Achievements, should they stay or go?

Yes 31 29.25%

No 13 12.26%

Only Sony/Micro should keep them 8 7.55%

Nintendo should consider getting them 53 50.00%

Total:105

So I am personally not an Xbox or Playstation fanboy. I like BOTH evenly. Both have their pros and cons. However, there is always one thing about them that I never understood.

Achievements

Now wait before you say something about it.

I always hear complaints about Nintendo's consoles not having achievements. Sure I guess it's nice to show people what you have earned but aren't there already achievements in the games? Most games have them anyway. Plus, achievements take up memory space. Not a lot at first but once you get a ton, they add up.

Achievements always make my OCD trigger ESPECIALLY if others can see them and I really do not like that. Lol

So what is your opinion on achievements? Do you like them? Should Nintendo consider them as well? Do you think it is dumb to have an in game achievement system and out of game system?

Achievements is honestly one of those things that turned me into the gamer I am today. Halo 3 Legendary and Insane on Gears of War.

Achievements have become an integral part of game design and longevity. They are gonna be around for as long as games are still being made.

Achievements are awesome because I have a way to track my gaming record, as well as the games I've beaten/100%'d completed.

It is a shame that Nintendo has not adopted them and there isn't really a reason not to. It would make its online community stronger.

Is this a joke with achievements filling up memory?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

If they stay,cool
if they dont,cool

i dont care either way. I gamed before they existed so it wouldnt bother me if they went bye bye

I see nothing wrong with Nintendo adding achievements, as long as players can deactivate them and/or turn off notifications.

Personally, I find them superfluous, but there are many video game enthusiasts who swear by them.

Yes, I like them. But they serve as an incentive to get 100% of a game that I've loved. That's their purpose for me, so I would like to see Nintendo making some kind of achievement on their next system.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Its like a penny. One of them is practically nothing. Just like one achievement. But once you start to get a ton of them, they add up. Especially if you are someone who gets games with a ton of achievements and a lot of games. Also, if you don't or can't buy external memory holders, then it really will add up.

I can see what my friends have played, I know what games they've completed.

- I can do that from everywhere
- I know with which people I can talk about what games (general talk, getting help etc.)
- I can do some friendly competition
- I can extend my playtime of games, with things or ways of playing I normally wouldn't do.
etc.

I think they are useless and Nintendo's stamps system makes them slightly more useful cause instead of them used for 5 seconds of glory and nothing else, you can use the stamps to post pics in miiverse
