I feel like Zelda U will end up qualifying as an rpg.

i do think we will see some more exclusive jrpgs on the system once xenoblade established the jrpg market on the console

Whut? Thats it for RPGs on the Wii U?

Not ripping on the Wii U as I am seriously considering getting one...once i find one used with the right price... i cant afford anything new these days... :(

That line up makes me sad :(

ah well...thank Nintendo for B/C... yeah, was thinking of getting a Wii but I figured WiiU has B/C soooo.... 2 gens in 1 = WIN WIN

If you're disappointed in the lack of RPGs on Wii U, don't fret, the Wii has some fantastic ones in the name of Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Super Paper Mario, The Last Story, Pandora's Tower, Xenoblade Chronicles, Rune Factory Frontier, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles and Tales of Symphonia.

Plus the Wii U is bound to get unique RPGs with time. :)

SPM isn't an RPG. At most it's a platformer with light RPG elements, which was a really stupid desicion on Nintendo's part and I really hope the next entry goes back to its roots.

Nintendo home consoles haven't exactly been good consoles for RPG's since the N64 (which was absolutely abysmal on this aspect). So considering Xenoblade Chronicles X (which looks awesome as hell), Child of Light, the inevitability of a Paper Mario, Fire Emblem x SMT appearing someday and maaaaaybe a Crystal Chronicles someday, I'd say the Wii U is already in a confortable position =P

I wouldn't expect more than that though. Out of the big names, Dragon Quest is the one that would be most likely, but DQXI will either be a 3DS or a PS4 game (at least I'm fairly sure of it)

Do you like the Crystal games? They're not so entertaining compared to other Final Fantasy games to me =/ Especially the Wii one.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Actually, I've never played them. I have little experience with the series' spin-offs, there are SO MANY of them. I do have interest in the original GC one (in fact, I might even play it this year. Here's hoping the single-player is worth it), though I never even bothered looking videos of the Wii and DS ones. I don't know, it feels like kind of a half-assed sub-series to me.

...I'm also interested in that weird WiiWare simulation game, My Life as a King. I don't know why either.

The first crystal chronicles has a solid single player mode. I recomend it.

I just hope they announce a new Paper Mario game in the vein of the first game/TTYD, I don't exactly get Nintendo consoles for RPG's.

Good point. It actually might be safe to say that the Wii U could be better in this department than the Gamecube and even the Wii as well. I mean, if Xenoblade X is everything we think, Paper Mario is more like TTYD, SMTxFE is actually a big thing (or if not, we get a great FE), etc. it could put it above those consoles imo.

Quality > quantity is key here. I'd rather have 1 amazing RPG that will be played forever than 10 that will be thrown away and never thought about again.

There are some indie eshop indies you can get on the eshop.
Alphadia Genesis, Pier Solar, Child of Light and don't forget VC games like Earthbound. Alphadia Genesis and Pier Solar are both turn based RPGs too. I've been enjoying Pier Solar.

I also forgot to mention Citizens of Earth in the OP, which is a game very similar to Earthbound and coming soon to the eShop.

i think they should have released some of 3DS RPGs on Wii U too.
Why not? Lots of games are released in both ps3 and vita, why not wii U and 3DS?
MH4U should be on wii U. Maybe, a fire emblem awakening+ new fire emblem for wii U

Anyway, in next gen it could happen due integrated architecture.
