I'm going to try and get into soccer as a the first New York team, NYC FC, is joining (the Red Bulls are in New Jersey, which is disgusting). I'm going to ignore the fact that NYC FC makes no sense to me (City's name is 'New York' and 'FC' makes it seem like a European team). But they have a cool logo so all is forgiven.

Now, some questions;

Is the roster any good? http://www.nycfc.com/players (Mix Diskerud isn't listed on the site yet.)

What age do soccer players begin to breakdown?

Does David Beckham know what he's talking about here? http://www.espnfc.com/major-league-soccer/story/1770788/david-beckham-says-mls-salary-cap-needs-to-goreport

Manchester City are majority owners of NYC. Will Manchester use this to abuse and screw over NYC?

I dont mean to brag, but I'm probably the biggest soccer fan on VGChartz. I have seen ads for the world cup, played 2 different FIFA games on my friends X1, and played soccer 3 times in 6th grade. I pretty much know everything you could ever wanna know. Anyway, getting to your questions:

Yes, the roster is good. Did you see the Patrick Mullins guy in that roster pic? He has a fap-tabulous smile. And he's 22, which by the way, is an even number -which is always good.

David Beckham always knows what he's talking about.

And yes, Manchester will abuse NYC, but that's fine because it is well known that NYC is very masochist and enjoys it.

TBH MLS is an alright league and the NYC FC have a lot of potential. David Villa is a former World Cup champion with Spain in 2010... and if they follow his veteran leadership they could go places...

Soccer players technically begin to break down around 31+ (But they are many freaks of nature: Zinedine Zidane, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Miroslav Klose, Cuauhtémoc Blanco is playing in his 40s in Mexico, Francesco Totti is playing in Italy at 38, and Rivaldo just retired at 41).

Blasting Salary caps is never good in any sport... Especially Futbol (Barcelona and Real Madrid are clear cut examples of this) they make the playing field unfair for other teams, unless your the one pointing the gun instead of being in front of it's barrel.

That being said I PERSONALLY AM NOT A BIG FAN of the MLS even though I am from NY myself... I rather watch the European Leagues any day of the WEEK (Mainly the Spanish League and the English Leagues). Their players are FAR more better to watch than MLS (not even an opinion... ITS A FACT).

BUT I still have many friends that can't wait to see the NYCFC play. They are excited what kind of Football they could bring.

As for Manchester City screwing over NYCFB? Well Yes and No. The COULD USE the team by bringing up and coming talent through the states first and having them sign later to Manchester City. But they have to be good enough to play in Europe for it's a different animal all together.

I don't like fifa but I love soccer THO. :D

City won't screw over NYC FC but they will abuse it. City are under fire from UEFA for spending too much on players, so they are limited from playing these players in European competitions. However, NYC FC will now be 'buying' great players and then just loaning them to City. Great loop-hole.

NYC will benefit from this though.

Villa and Lampard are still top players IMO

Villa could have easily improved Spain's chances in last years WC if Del Bosque wasn't so stubborn.

I disagree with Beckham on this. A salary cap is good to allow smaller teams to compete with the bigger ones. It stops the big ones from becoming giants(like Barca and RM in Spain) and provides for more competition. Soccer is still in its infancy in the USA. It needs to be nurtured slowly. Getting rid of the salary cap would be bad IMO as it could lead to fans of smaller clubs getting fed up with their losing. New teams mean die-hard fans haven't been born into MLS yet so there won't be many people watching constant defeats.

Augen will probably be the most helpful. He knows a lot about the MLS.

I can answer the breakdown age. It differs from player to player, but usually around 32 is where players fall off. Some earlier some later. Forward players are usually the first to breakdown because they usually rely a lot on agility and speed. Defenders can last to late 30s. Keepers can last til their 40s.

The MLS salary cap is only at $3 million. Think about that!

NYCFC's roster has star power, but it has some major weaknesses. Orlando City is in a much better position.

Soccer players breakdown at variable numbers. You start to see most players retire in mid to late 30s. Elite players try to cash a check longer than some.

Man City has already used and abused NYCFC with the Lampard fiasco, it'll likely keep happening. Good news, Man City is supposed to be sending some promising young players on loan to make up for it.

The fact you called it soccer disqualifies you from the title.

Stop being a loser and call it football
