I'm going to ignore the fact that NYC FC makes no sense to me (City's name is 'New York' and 'FC' makes it seem like a European team). But they have a cool logo so all is forgiven. Now, some questions; Is the roster any good? http://www.nycfc.com/players (Mix Diskerud isn't listed on the site yet.) What age do soccer players begin to breakdown? Does David Beckham know what he's talking about here? http://www.espnfc.com/major-league-soccer/story/1770788/david-beckham-says-mls-salary-cap-needs-to-goreport Manchester City are majority owners of NYC. Will Manchester use this to abuse and screw over NYC? |
NYCFC's roster has star power, but it has some major weaknesses. Orlando City is in a much better position.
Soccer players breakdown at variable numbers. You start to see most players retire in mid to late 30s. Elite players try to cash a check longer than some.
Man City has already used and abused NYCFC with the Lampard fiasco, it'll likely keep happening. Good news, Man City is supposed to be sending some promising young players on loan to make up for it.
