Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

Also Fez, played it 1 hour and a half, I ended up so bored i asked myself why i was even playing the game, and stopped playing the game while searching for an answer.

Seriously? Loved that game... One of my favourites last gen!

What didn't you like about it?

I would suggest people explained why those games felt overrated to them like I did above and some have done before. But I see many don't do that and I feel it would be a great addition to the thread explaining why. Just don't get carried away when people don't feel the same way as you about some game. :D

the story was shit with many plot holes

the gameplay was worse which was repititive, shallow and easy. square square square to beat enemies, that was mostly it.

bose fights were the worst i ever played, in my life, all of it. they were SO bad. that final bosefight, really? that boss fight were i had to run and throw a batarang..... which one im i talking about? thats exactly my point.

the only good thing about the game was atmosphere and jokers voice acting. batmans voice acting was SHIT. so dull, so dead, like every other character in the game.

the platforming sections were brutally boring, i mean brutal.

the only reason this game was well recieved was because it was a batman game. if it wasnt it would have been a 60~ meta.

Super Mario 3D World for me. I didn't despise it, but I also didn't enjoy it nearly as much as previous 3D Mario titles. Mario games were always appealing to me thanks to the sense of exploration you got out of them, something which was sadly missing in the latest adventure...

Play with a friend it makes it 10000x better.

That did help, but to be honest, something I really missed was being able to take it slow. I love games where I'm not on a timer and can take my time just crusing around the world developers have built. Probably comes from Super Mario 64 being one of my first games, and I loved, loved just messing around and taking my time to find the stars in each painting. I didn't really enjoy the competitive vibe from 3D World. Still, once I get a Wii U of my own, I'd like to give it another chance. I never actually finished it with my friend, so I might enjoy it more if my expectations have been dampered. We shall see.

Hmm

Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 for me.
They're good, but not "Best Jump n Run of All-Time"-good.

I think they're just not for me, I even liked Mario Sunshine, a game which has its obvious flaws, more.
Also I really felt burned-out on the orchestral soundtrack after finishing both.

Fallout 3.

Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2, XIII-3. It didn't get amazing scores or anything but still received FAR more praise than what that series deserved.

The small details would be so long to get into that it would take a few pages to complete, but let me just throw my biggest complaints out there and say having a party forced on me through most of my game sucks, and isn't considered "fixed" by not allowing the party we grew to know from the first in our party in later games. Oh, and of course the linearity of the first and (to a smaller extent) second game. Plus the story wasn't really there to make three entire games. And the soundtrack was meh, weapon creation was pretty much irrelevant with a few exceptions, the customization of appearance and the depth of the job classes between characters were insignificant (except 3 which was 1 character and you changed outfits to change jobs which is a whole different gripe), basically the whole series was all and all absolutely terrible and we (and jrpgs as a whole) are all in a better spot now that the series is over. (Keep in mind these are just my biggest complaints.)

The Legend of Zelda (readys flame shield): Ocarina of Time (raises flame shield)

This would also be among my answers.

I assumed it's because I played it long after release, so I tried Twilight Princess... which also seemed massively over-rated.

Also: Demon's Souls; Elder Scrolls; Fallout; Monster Hunter.

All of the above I've given multiple chances to only to come away thinking they're rubbish every time.

TLOU for me

GTA V, but I dont hate it. Its only overrated extremly

Zelda - Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch.... Incredable!!!
