Never made a 3ds vs vita topic bro, your mistaken 1 thread tracking n3ds sales for the year. All i said was it surpassed wiiu in 4-5 weeks then ps4 and finally within the last week (current week) the vita. (i just kepted updating it. I dont go out of my way to troll the vita, it was just something that popped up last week due to how well n3ds sold and vita dropping in sales)

Definitely generalizing. I have no idea how he concluded that "doing much better than 2014" equaled to "lighting Japan on fire". Let's be real here. Yeah, you can blame the fact that Japan is more of a handheld market. However, at the same time, you cannot ignore that fact that the PS4's 2014 library was not that appealing to the Japanese audience. If there are no games the Japanese audience wants, then what's the point of buying a PS4? Looking at next year's lineup for Japan, it is substantially better not just in terms of quantity, but also in games that actually appeal to the Japanese gamer.

Now, is the PS4 going to do better than the PS3? Maybe, maybe not... Who knows? But to conclude that the PS4 will never fare better than the PS3 is a very hasty generalization.

Its not that anyone expects it to sell 10m.... Its funny that you thought people believed that.

 

5m would be good, and over 5m would be exceptional. 4m would be ok.

You will be very surprised i think, PS4 will reach 3M by the end of next year, i can bet on that.

And the big guns will come in 2016 ( FFXV/DQ/KH3 ), PS3 hadnt that

Someone basically said the ps4 will sell 2 mil, maybe more in 2015. Well, if it sells 2 mill, in its second full year, then year 3 will be higher, historically. So, by saying that, it would seem 10 mil would be expected. 5 mil for the ps4 lifetime is horrendous, no spin about it.

Not good at all. Most of my favorite games come from Japan (FF, MG, Souls). The future seems worrisome to be honest.
What Sony's Japan studio have been doing for the last year, the PS4 need much support to stand on its feet. Looking at the line up of 2015, while much better than this year, but still not that great.


Why are you worried? You'll still be getting those games.


Worried about the future not the present, the fanbase for those games would be significantly smaller without Japan. Japanese companies are having financial problems as it is.

These games will still sell well in the west though so it should not be a problem.

Rather than continuing to be vague, you should make a specific prediction if you want to paint with a broad brush.
