I think you're missing the point of some commentators. I love platformers and Rayman has been one of the best in years IMO. Yes that is just my opinion but then the OP is also claiming bias towards Ninty platformers. That's kinda the problem I'm having.

Cool review but I also disagree.

Rayman Legends is the best 2D platformer I've ever played also. I would give it about 9.5/10. DKCTF would be a close second though, I trully enjoyed it too. Overall in those last 2 years, I prefered those 2 games by FAR in comparison to NSMBU ! (though it's a decent game too, it's just not excellent to me)

Anyway it's cool to get such good platformers these days. ; )

Prediction: End of 2015 Hardware sales (as of January 20, 2015)

Wii U: 12.1M | XBO: 19.8M | PS4: 36.0M | 3DS: 58.5M | PSV: 11.7M

Ooops, never thought I'd seen a review like that about Rayman Legends. I think it's a splendid game. In fact I pretty much love it. It's definitely a 9/10 for me.

In other words I disagree with you to the fullest.

Well, Rayman was always floaty, I have no issue with that. But yes, NSMBU and DKC: TF have more responsive controls and their mechanics are basically perfect.

The physics have some minor bugs and the levels some glitches, but the average player won't notice that.

The visual appearance has a lot of variety, but the "pure" level design isn't always on a high level (especially the slow-paced levels). Music  and invasion levels were mostly great.

I didn't have problems with the controls or AI in the Murphy levels during the singleplayer, but it can be annoying in the challenges. The lum duplications fail to work sometimes because the touchscreen controls can react too slowly. And certain sliders (see picture of today's challenge) in Murphy's dungeon are mostly impossible with the AI, they only work on some days. The top players developed techniques to control Murphy with their feet on the touchscreen or they play with two players.

I'm still playing the challenges for 5 minutes most days to get a gold medal, but it doesn't really make much sense because they lack variety.

I'd rate Rayman Legends lower than DKC: TF (best level design of any sidescrolling platformer, great music), but higher than NSMBU (lazy with visuals and music, but better than other NSMB games).

EDIT: lol, two sets of sliders worked today, that's pretty rare.

Thanks Rol for saving me from buying this. I was considering buying it but somehow Rayman never really appealed that much to me. Neither does Mario nor Kim Possible nor Kasierschmarrn, bus thats a different story.

Well, the score actually isn't that bad (look at the review of Arkham Origins). Rol claims he makes full use of the scale, and it looks he is true to his words. This score means not bad, not great. Good enough for buying at discounted prices. Actually Rol says so in the thread. If you get it for 20-30€, you can go for it.

Ofcourse. It is you again with holier-than-thou attitude. Have a great weekend too, buddy.

I have to disagree with your rating.
I for one loved the game and did not like Zombi U so my standards are also high :p
easily an 8.5 for me.

Lol at your passive-agressive comment. You have got to be kidding me, man. Yeah, sorry for not being an asshole and trying to keep an open mind.

I'll just go with this comment. I'd rather play the game and be a little disappointed than wonder what I'm missing. And I agree that the recent Mario games feel too familiar with earlier ones
