Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Any doubt that Zelda U will be 2015 GoTY?

Well not GOTY for The Game Awards, but it will probably take quite a few from different gaming sites.

Zelda has that thing, that thing I can't put my finger on that gives it the possibility of getting GOTY. It will be different than any other Zelda rather than rehashed games that will be available next year. Halo 5 yeah, shoot stuff. But a lot of people will buy it and it might be a great game. Zelda seems to be the most mature game of 2015 in the sense that it seems not to dwell on past games in the series, which is always a plus in my book.

P.S.: If you are offended by my OPINION of Halo 5, why?

I'm not necessarily offended but just surprised. Shoot stuff? It's a fps for gods sake. They can't change that! THEYRES nothing wrong with shooting stuff anyways that's like making fun of cutting stuff in zelda. Halo is rehashed? Zelda is on its what 20th+ game? How is it not dwelling on past things in the series? It's the exact thing besides for the bigger open world and some new gameplay mechanics. You haven't seen halo 5 single player so you don't know the changes. Also halo 5 multi-player has some new multi-player mechanics already. BTW I like zelda more than halo just saying

This Zelda won't be linear, that's all I'm saying. Like I said, an opinion, I played halo and I shot stuff... got kinda boring. I'm not asking them to change it, I'm complaining about it...which isn't that helpful but I'm still doing it. Zelda and Nintendo in general always try to differentiate themselves from the market so use "rehash" sparingly for Nintendo as engines and rarely re-used.  Bring up the "numerous" games in the series all you want but when playing those games I rarely remember saying "oh, it reminds me of-" Nintendo basically founded most of the game mechanics that still are used today. The Super Mario Galaxy and Zelda OoT engines were their only major games where the engine was re-used. Games like Halo and CoD use the same engines I kid you not and change a variable or two. Once again, opinions of games are being made here, you're not gonna persuade me other wise. Sorry :( Now, back on topic I suppose.

It doesn't have enough violence and coarse language, clearly not GOTY material. ;)

That bokoblin massacre in the gameplay trailer was among the most brutal things I've seen in gaming.

When I was a kid in 1999 I was convinced that one of Link's cries when he swung his sword in Ocarina was "shit!"

Link does curse a lot in his games. When he falls from high heights and hurts himself, he says shit. And in the MK8 dlc he says "hell yeah" when he performs a trick. Nintendo thinks they're so slick...tryna be all hard.

I don't think it'll have any wins on lock because of the very steep competition, but I do think it'll be involved in most GOTY discussions. Of course, don't count your chickens before they hatch and all that.

Not to jump in but a lot of games from different series use different engines. That doesn't make them new. It just seems like you are taking things away from Halo or COD but letting them slide with Zelda/NIN just because you orefer those games imo....and this is coming from someone who is nor a HAlo or Zelda fan. And I have played those numerous games and I did say oh this reminded me of x game in the series or y game in the series. It is almost impossible to say other wise with a game that is 20+ years old unless you are just choosing to ignore it.

Now there is nothing wrong with you opinion at all it just seemed pretty biased and one sided. Which is also fine but it is just always odd to see such one sided arguments so this just stood out to me. Anyway back OT

again nah there are A LOT of potential games that could win GOTY coming in 2015 so it will be a toss up but for us as games it will be a AMAZING year!

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

With the likes of Batman, Uncharted, bloodborne, and Halo 5, i'll be surprised if anybody remembers Zelda U exists, in all honesty.

Opinions aren't just or fair, heck life isn't fair. A bias is a bias. There's no right, nor is there wrong. This isn't the topic to discuss this either as it was just an excerpt from an early post. Start a new thread if we should converse on this specifc topic.

Yes, there's plenty of doubt on that. I'm sure No man's sky will get GOTY easily.

After watching that video, reading the comments, and all we saw at E3 I see no reason why it would not get it.

Just my prediction. No facts, but I truly feel this will be Zelda's best!

Any homeconsole zelda that wasn't goty since majora's mask ?
