How does this compare to WiiU's other huge exclusive this year, Mario Kart 8? Well, Mario Kart 8 did 70k first week in the UK or about double what Smash did.

Did you expect better or worse sales? How do you think its legs will compare to MK8 (UK)? How will they compare in the rest of Europe?

Turrible.

That's horrible, I expected much more, I expected it to beat MK8(not in lifetime but for first week). This is horrible especially considering it is so close to the holidays. Smash 3DS really did damage it, there is no way around it.

Smash was never huge in Europe... Melee barely sold one million copies there, and Brawl couldn't even get to 2.5 million despite releasing on the mighty Wii at its peak. Needless to say, 2.5 million is fantastic but that means that this franchise was never comparable to Mario Kart in this particular market.

Anyway, if it gets near Melee's sales by the end of its run then it will be a success IMO but so far, average start.

There's no passion here for wii u.
People will still love mario, probably always will, but nintendo are scratching away at existing wii u owners by wasting too much time.

People who I know who bought a wii u are either on ps4 and xb1, and wii u is gathering dust, or traded in already.
It just goes to show, wii u needs third parties to remain relevant and help there exclusives stand out

I hear that people who preordered on Amazon haven't even gotten the game yet because they ran out of stock so quickly.
