Smash was never huge in Europe... Melee barely sold one million copies there, and Brawl couldn't even get to 2.5 million despite releasing on the mighty Wii at its peak. Needless to say, 2.5 million is fantastic but that means that this franchise was never comparable to Mario Kart in this particular market.
Anyway, if it gets near Melee's sales by the end of its run then it will be a success IMO but so far, average start.
