Forums - Gaming Discussion - This Generation is Pretty Great for All of Us So Far!

Nintendo has been the only one really delivering for me so far, but on the non-Nintendo front I'm hoping for great things from games like FFXV, KH3, and Bloodborne. I'm hoping that if nothing else this will be the generation that Ubisoft gets its comeuppance.

Despite the vocal minority that want to critisize, this generation is off to a great start!

-No console has mass hardware problems like 7th generation

-All consoles are reasonably priced

-Huge franchises on Xbox One and PS4 from the start (took a few years for Assassins Creed, Call of Duty etc to become popular on 7th gen)

-Xbox One is outselling Xbox 360

-PS4 outselling PS3

-We have China in the game now

-Games with Gold and PS+ are giving us free games

-Reviewers are putting game companies in their place

-Indies are better this generation (and getting better)

We, as gamers, should be very proud of ourselves. We put an end to a lot of bullshit that went on last generation! Sure there are server problems here and there but these companies are getting bashed enough by the public so that will never happen again!

- console dont but controllers have
- i agree
- not sure if this is a positive thing. (no variation nothing new)
-agree
-agree
-china? Oh you mean the console being available in China?
- if you have to pay for it its not free. (its like saying I am buying a bottle the water inside is free) and its rentals you cant decline so the fee includes them.
- not sure how long this will be the case (maybe its just "lets try our best to NOT look corrupt for a short time so everyone believes us and forgets the scandals and then do as always and get some extra $$$) I mean how else does Assassins Creed get no "choppy framerate" but Sonic Boom does? Just because Sega didnt pay them and they had to buy their own review copies?hmm
- dunno about that (were indies really worse last gen? Or do you mean compared to last gens start in 2005?)

There is no NINTENDO  so ALL OF US is kinda wrong isnt it?

Not really.

Most of that list are things that should be compulsary to any product on launch and merely highlights how bad the previous genrations have been and how the gaming market tollerates crap.

But I would say so far it is very, very poor. We are seeing little to no innovation in games, be it story, characters, gameplay/mechanics, or even in graphics. Heck, they struggle to hit 30 fps at 1080p which is very poor as phones will be able to achieve that soon enough.

Which controllers have you been using? I've used all of them (PS4, Xbox One, Wii U Gamepad and Procontroller) and not had any problems with any of them.

Ps4 analog stuck  "rubber".    But thats the only thing about that controller that could be improved. The rest is pretty perfect imo.

2015 will e the biggest year yet (easily even bigger than 2011)

True next gen to me means only on the next gen systems. So if I buy a PS4, I'm not trying to play a bunch of PS3 games on it.. I have a ps3 for that. I bought a PS4 to play PS4 games. You see where I'm going with that?

Here is my thread I was talking about http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=185889&page=1

So why do you count NBA 07 and NBA 08 as PS3 exclusives in that thread? They were also released for PS2 and PSP.

Hmm.. Really? Didn't know that. PS3 still beat PS4 in its first year though in terms of next gen exclusive games ;)

I also needed to take out Bloodborne, LBP3 and MLB from the PS4 list in that thread but i decided to just leave the OP alone.

What games are you playing on your next gen consoles?

Seriously? A crap ton of people just bought Unity, that broken piece of crap that is the same as every other AC game just buggier. A crap ton of people just bought COD AW, essentially the same game as every other COD just with jetpacks and it has online connection issues. There are less than a hand full of exclusives on each of those systems within a year and some are just remakes (albeit, of good games).

I'm not sure what you are so happy about. I know I sound super negative, but it's been a depressing YTD for them. It's only recently they are starting to look good in the future but even then many of the big games keep getting delayed.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

I agree that Nintendo has gotten me back into console gaming this generation; the things that they have done to completely blow my mind as if I were a kid again include:

-Mario Kart 8 being gorgeous, great soundtrack, one of the only racers this generation to still have 4-player split-screen, and a great example for what good DLC looks like.
-8-PLAYER SMASH!!!
-Everything they have done so far for Pokemon Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby

The kid in me has come back full force to most likely die from hype overload on Nov. 21st :)

Current Consoles: Gaming PC, Wii U, 3DS

Until the X1 takes the US and I can finally say to my friends "I told you so" and rub it in (like they are doing to me now). The generation has not been great for me. :(

No detailed mention of Nintendo in the OP makes sense. Not only because of who the OP is, but because the entire market has forgotten what a Wii U even is. This is a realistic toastboy thread.
