Don't simply call them stupid. That is rude. Back up your claim with evidence and prove them in the wrong.

Plus, whay would be the determining factor for stupidity? The mods? Thay in itself already brings up problems.

Your suggestion is baseless, cruel, unsubstantiated, and hopefully satirical a la Jonathan Swift

Your lucky I don't have any qualms with incorrect spelling.

Seriously though, the evidence is in the quoted post. That's all you need. A good point is what forest-spirit brought up; intentionally being stupid can lead to hold-ups in conversations and derail the thread. That's no fun.

First off my cell phone has a tiny ass keyboard that is really hard to type with.

And it isn't the fault of the stupid people for the derail. I've seen people ignore post and continue the conversation no problem. Anyone who responds or engages them is the problem.

That whole thread was gold! Too bad it ended up getting locked.

There are actually a few people on VGchartz who if I see they are the poster I just skim over their post and don't bother reading it for the sake of arguments. This could lead to odd bits at times I guess where certain replies towards me or which would have answered something I'm asking go unread... but there are some posters who it just isn't worth the effort to read a word they type.

I left you a little niblet but you didn't catch it. Darn.

Anyhow, this is the thinking I'm trying to refute in the OP. People need to be told they're stupid if they're being stupid, but those good samaritans who inform others of their stupidity at times are cruely banned; how will people ever learn?

I think I reported it about 40 times... or however many posts the OP put in it. Was just flamebaiting because people were just going in there to laugh at him after a while and some sly people were in there reporting those who stepped over the line since... the rules still apply regardless of the thread/poster.

Being ridiculous is annoying, we've had a few users who kept on making fantastically stupid predictions and statements and who were also quite mean and rude about it (will not mention names). However; an equally serious problem is users taking the bait, which I have done myself on several occassions, this leads to a downward spiral and can ruin a perfecly good thread.
I also wish that some weren't so dense and ruined discussions by being ridiculous but there is no law against being stupid in society in general either, whether or not that's a good thing is up to each to decide for him/herself.

Well at least I kind of have a Mod on my side.

Stupidity is when they keep doing the same bogus "predictions" month after month, they keep giving the same bogus explanations ("better excluaives", "blast processing" and other non sense that has been refuted with sensible arguments times and times again) ... then yes, after 3 strikes they should not only be banned, but a deadly electrick shock should be sent through their internet cable all the way to their keyboard and their soul may rest in peace*.

*The shock part is a joke, we love you guys.

I disagree.
