MS doesn't really need Japan audience.

You can never have too big an audience

There's more operation cost for MS there than revenue.

Sony didn't launch PS4 there until Feb.

Around the Network

- Nintendo can better advertise their non-Mario and Zelda franchises. The myth that Nintendo doesn't use more then a handful of IPs, could be wiped out within a short period of time if Nintendo let people know about half of the new games they have made and just let fly out to market including the eShop exclusives.

- Improved online functionality, with the eventual adoption of a way to have games attached to Nintendo IDs.

- Stop with the bad to lazy names for new hardware, they lucked up with the DS and Wii, but Wii U, New 3DS and a case can be made for the 2DS are just... negatives that don't even consider uninitiated consumers or retailers.

- Win over the remaining console 3rd party developers in Japan. 3rd party support is critical and getting a steady flow of titles from various genres, including those that Nintendo doesn't support or try to support as often. I'm looking at you fighting games, visual novels/adventures and sports.

I think the title of this thread some be how can Nintendo appeal to the West more with its home consoles ;).

Obviously Nintendo-gamers like Monster Hunter, Bravely Default and Youkai Watch from third parties. What does that say about the demographics?

Your list consists if Japanese-oriented games, while I'm talking about Western Nintendo gamers.

In general, Nintendo gamers don't like any game which is violent (COD, Darksiders, Assassin's Creed) or have any level of realism (Gran Turismo, The Sims).

In general you're making things up. Plenty of Nintendo gamers own multiple systems and buy those kind of games on their other system.

I do believe that, for multiplats, this is a large part of the problem.  Multiplats have a (well earned) reputation for being poorly executed on Nintendo platforms, so many people who own Wiis and Wii Us have another system of some sort (PC, Xbox 360/One, PS3/4) to play multiplats.

The wii pretty much forced you into getting a ps360 and mulitplats on the wii u are pretty much always missing something, late, overpriced, or underdeveloped. No reason to buy them for it.

Should be noted that this is pretty much all Nintendos fault, they're missing things that gamers like on the other systems forcing people to shop elsewhere. And gamers are the ones who spend the most money.

An online FPS.

And? You can still boot it on X360, matter fact, I haven't played that game yet.

PD has to be rebooted in a different type of game that it was a decade ago.

What do you mean by that? A game is considered dead when it hasn't had a game in a long time. For example, Viva Piñata, F-Zero, and Jak & Daxter are considered dead franchises.

Are they really dead? You think if VP, F-Zero and J&D get a proper release it won't sell?

They could with the proper execution. But they are still dead. Perfect Dark on the other hand, is a lesson. If you want to reboot a game, take time, and don't make the development for 3 consoles.

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Me!

One simple thing: Nintendo could pay for GTA: San Adreass port and some j-rpg like KH or Tales of something. They need to re-educate their consumer.

Last sentence, what?

Dead IPs are the ones with no value or die with it's trademark holder. I don't think any of the games you mentioned fall in those categories.
