The general ones are still here, but much rarer. Next one should be Nov or Dec.

We had a Dec on last year, which announced Hyrule Warriors. The next direct was this year's February. Followed by game specific ones, Digitial Event, and game specific ones again. It's a new cycle:

General > Game Specific/s > Digital Event > Game Specific/s> General.*

*Global ones only. This doesn't account the general New Nintendo 3DS + other stuff Japan/ Australia only oddball one.
