Simple question, Is it logic to combine 3DS and N3DS sales since it is advertised as a new handheld with exclusives?

Edit: So what is wrong with having the two grouped together?

Market analysis. The N3DS launch will make things look like 3DS is doing extremely well and it is not the case because poeple are ditching their old console to get the new one just like PS4 and PS3 or XBOX one and 360 recently.

I don't know... I will wait until more games are announced. If the system is the next portable from Nintendo, then we shall analyze individually, but if it's a small hardware revision like DSi (which is probably the case, since no sober developer will abandon 3DS user base to a brand new hardware so soon), let's merge them.



3DS, Wii, PSP, Vita, PS2, PS3, PS4 & Steam.

DSi had exclusives, GBC had exclusives and they are combined with their respective original versions. So yeah, we add the sales together.

If it is the case how and when do we decide to separate sales? Because HW improvement and exclusives are the main reasons imo, that is why I ask if it is logic to combine

It really depends in this case ...

If the platform receives more exclusive software support to differentiate between the two then it only makes sense that you keep track of them separately and it was a mistake on Nintendo's part to lump GBC sales data with the GB otherwise they might as well just count GBA in there too ...
