We are talking Japan here, which didn't had a 500M marketing and which have a bundle that isn't discounted (while selling 3-4x more outside the bundle anyway)... and shooters in Japan is more niche than Musou games... but yes take the point completely out of context and you may have a point.

That marketting budget was global and wide spread all over the internet, to think it didn't reach Japan in great number would be foolishness.

As for the rest, shooters may be niche but the WiiU is not a Playstation where these titles and this niche has lived for 15 years. HyWa will at best meet expectations in Japan and nothing more, you're comparing a AAA game to a game that had expectations of ~150k total in Japan and probably had a budget of a million. (Take out the bundle, ~15-20k, puts Destiny very close to HyWa openning week. Let's see if it has any legs.)

Awesome Smash debut

Very nice PS4 numbers

Harsh XB1 drop, but it was expected

Vita numbers going down every week?

PS3 pretty bad, but it is an old system... WiiU, however... ugh

And 3DS still on top, despite the new model launching in a few weeks

We have 680k for PS4 against 1.91M for WiiU in japan fanbase, that is a big gap... have you been in Japan to see how much it was hyped or marketed?? No so please don't try to reach on it.

So shooters may be niche, but sine Musou aint let just skip this point and say expectations are 150k LT. And let's just estipulate a budget because that would make the point easier...

And you should be preaching to the person who started comparing both (a hint it wasn't me)... I actually don't care about the sale of any of them. Just said Destiny PS3 and PS4 could be looked together (hint, because NPD do as that) and that for individual SKU it will be a battle between ants, very insignificant and probably a tie.

Just don't know why you are trying to take all the value of the sales of Destiny and give all sorte of excuses for HW.

Fanbase gap is irrelevant when the niche genre musou targets is not even part of said fanbase gap. The people who picked it up (and remember, there was a decent 20k sales of WiiU when HyWa launched) either also picked up a WiiU for the title and musou or they were warm to the series or Zelda, but they weren't large in number. Musou fanbase had dwelt in numbers on Playstation, just look at FW sales of the titles on the PS3.

You seem to think that I live in a bubble and don't have several uni friends who happen to be in Japan, and that even if said friends did exist, that I never use this thing called Skype to speak with them about stuff.

No one should be comparing these titles. And I'm not trying to take the value from Destiny's sales, I am trying to make people realize that the numbers are skewed by bundles and recolored console (the number of double dips is likely high, and likely not actually increasing the baseline in a meaningful way). So comparing any games with NO bundle to a game not only bundled but bundled with a limited model, is to argue fallacy of incongrous samples.

Ok man have your way... everybody was overhyped for Destiny in Japan because there was marketing everywhere... the game actually flopped with 100k sales.

People bought 80k of standalone game because of that, and payed full price on the bundle+game just because of the second color that will be standalone next month...

I said none of that... at all. I am telling you to not compare the incomparable and using Destiny's numbers as they are presented because they are skewed unless you have an identical, other console comparison where you have a bundled, limited console + game scenario.

Also you may want to talk to Activision and their plummetting stock about whether or not Destiny is a flop.

Man, one week and the PS4 already wiped away the sales advantage the XBO had in its launch week. This also goes to show that once the PS4 gets more games that appeal to Japanese gamers it will be getting really nice bumps. Can't wait to see what FFXV week looks like.

Edit:  Also, I think the One is going to be lucky if it can even pull off 400K in Japan.

I'm sure FFXV will give PS5 an amazing boost in Japan.

Doesn't make much sense (altough both released together and are the same game... is SSB the same on both plats??? NPD lump all together), anyway we know Destiny can end up outselling HW even in just PS4...

HW 100k LTD... Destiny 91k FW....

That is at least a real comparison. Destiny as a multiplatform game and Hyrule Warriors have nothing to do with one another, it is a nonsensical (and downright inflammatory) comparison. At least Hyrule Warriors vs Destiny PS4 is interesting -- a Japanese exclusive being outsold by the SKU of a Western multiplatform title on a lower install base.

Be that as it may, Destiny will have to show stronger legs than Hyrule Warriors if it wants to win that fight, and while neither Warriors nor Zelda games are known for their legs, Western games are not known for their legs in Japan either.

I'd take another look at GTA, COD, and BF sales on PS3.

Yes, Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, and Battlefield set the standards we should apply to all Western games, especially new IP.

Finally the ps4 take some love from Japanese .You guys belive the boost is only from Destiny? I think it has to do with the good preconference. Also for the xbone is like i said employes and tourist buy it for now on lol
oups i said that second time i hope don't get warning massage again lol
