Stop the pipe dream this has been the XB1's best year this gen but look at this entire gen MS best consevtive NPD has been  5 months I think PS4 was 10 http://www.geekwire.com/2014/playstation-4-outsells-xbox-one-u-s-10th-consecutive-month/ and before MS 5 months this year PS4 has had 6 consevtive this year

XBO has been doing well as of late, but it is not even gaining ground on PS4 world wide, let alone on a path to outsell it.

Overall the console market is getting stronger, and that is good for everyone. PS4 Pro and XBO Scorpio are going to greatly increase the number of units sold. The new scalable and evlolving platforms both Sony and Microsoft are going to will assure that consoles become the biggest selling home computing devices of the 2020's and beyond.

You may be right, that XBO will eventually pass PS4, but by that time both platforms will be well above 100M units sold, and well over 100M active users. At the end of the day, we have two ginat computer manufactures going at it, and giving us two very different products. That is great for gamers, consumers, and both companies. It has never been a better time to be a console owner, whichever side of the fence you sit on.

Good grief. Xbox has won the last few months thanks in part to the S, but mainly due to Pro preorders moving sales to November, just like the Star Wars and Cod bundles did last year. I have no idea how you expect Xbox to outsell PS4 so heavily on the next few months either. Scorpio may do decently, but it's going to be an expensive proposition four years into a cycle. I also can!t believe you have someone agreeing with you above. The idea that a console that has sold only 25m after three years will sonehow make to 100m is laughable. But seeing as MS blatantly lied about caring about sales, I am sure if they overtake Sony we'll hear about it - don't hold your breath for that announcement.

And to put how small Xbox's victories have mainly been, OS4 has outsold Xbox One by 130k in the last two weeks alone in Japan , and FFXV is still to come this month.

Its just a matter of priceing.... Sony launched their slim at 299$, when they probably could have done 249$.

They choose profit over growing the market share in the US.

While MS is doing the oppersite, basically giveing away Xbox One's, with good deals.

However all it takes, for this to not turn out the way you predict is sony lowering the price of the slim.

Whats the gap right now? 1.8m or so for the PS4..... thats gonna take some time to catch up too.

Maybe by the end of 2020 sales of both consoles in the US are equal, as you predict.

But thats just like 1/3rd of the world wide market. PS4 will still have a massive lead everywhere else.
