It's a great game but it has its flaws:

- Lack of innovation
- Slow battle system
- Godawful, tedious, and uncontrollable "Trance" System
- Long load times into the battle and out of it
- Graphically a step backwards

It didn't seem graphically worse to me than FFVIII. It may just have to do with the different art styles.

I really don't get that argument! To me, FFIX has aged MUCH better than FFVII and FFVIII!

Battle system has adjustable speeds and it's the probably the best looking PS1 game and looks expoententially better than FF8. I don't understand.

I'm not sure about that but I like FF8's darker setting and art style better but that's subjective so I stand corrected. I think Chrono Cross takes the cake when it comes to graphics/presentation.

As for the battle system. I wasn't talking about how slow the ATB bar fills up. It's more about the other points I mentioned (trance activation/deactivation and load times before and after the battle) in addition to the sudden errors where the game sort of freezes for a few seconds before it responds to your opponent's commands. This has happened with me often in the Pal version, especially during the final battle.

I tried to leave off the subjective things like Trance mode and stuff. FF9 looks amazing technically (I think artisically as well, but that is subjective), especially when compared to predecessors and the limitations of the console. I never ran into freezing or slowdowns though. Played the US version on PS2 though.

FF14 is an excellent game. Beautiful graphics, amazing soundtrack, great combat and cross server parties. I had some amazing dungeon runs with 3 PC players while I was on PS4. Stay away from PS3 version though.

While the speed is adjustable, it's still too slow. I played this game after having just finished FF VII, and the difference was immediately noticeable.
