lol @ #1. It's a great cinematic game but far from the best ever made by anyone's standards I thought.

It's also a case of how do you rate older games? Many of the old greats that made the Top 10 like FFVII, OoT and even Goldeneye, are mechanically horrible to play now, so balancing old school nostalgia with objective rating is very difficult to do.

Certainly. Blocky graphics aside, all early 3D games have horrible camera issues. If any of the modern games had those, no one would put them in a top 100.

I agree with this post 100%! I really don't know why the original Sonic is on this list instead of Sonic 3 & Knuckles when the latter is better in pretty much every way possible! >_>

Crash is completely legitimate too.  The first Crash is almost unplayable today.  Crash 3 however still holds up WONDERFULLY

Innovation is factored in. The first Sonic/Crash game set the standards to their Franchises and/or Genre.

Look at Metal Gear Solid ranking at 5 for instance... judging from gameplay alone, its way inferior to any other entry in the series. But this doesn't erase the influence it had on gaming and gamers.

Yeah, but still. Games like Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Crash 3 deserved to appear somewehre on the list for being good games!
