I reckon 1.8m LTD. It has an advantage over FRLG because it offers a more meaningful upgrade and the time gap between ORAS' and RSE's releases will be longer, but as much as I love 3rd gen (my first pkmn games) I don't think it's as popular as Gens 1 and 2, plus the relative decline from 3DS and DS won't do it too many favours

Still, I guess the best way will be to use COMG numbers once we get them and compare to previous Pokemon games, so I'll hedge my bets for now

Holy shit, man! Pokemon Red & Blue was a true monster, wasn't it? Anyway, I predict 2.25 million LT in Japan for OR/AS!

I seriously wonder when we'll ever get another game with a similar effect as Pokemon, that game influenced a whole generation of kids and still manages to be relevant to this day almost 20 years later, amazing. I don't think (hope) that Angry Birds is something like that, but Minecraft probably is, though I'm not sure about its popularity lasting over 10 years.

Anyhow, I really can't imagine what the next game with similar success is going to be. Not gonna lie, would be awesome, if Sony managed to hit such a goldmine, now that they already have the leading console.

Possibly true, but I just want the one company of the three, whose console I happen to like the most, that is in the biggest financial trouble to do the best this gen. An exclusive that becomes and stays huge for years to come would definitely be a great help in that direction.

It did happen, but they are japanese only (in terms of godlike Success). Watch out for Youkai Watch 2, its at 2mil and its practically guaranteed  to sell 3mil by years end if these legs continue!

Mnster Hunter also in a way was very successful... Oh yeah Animal Crossing on HH is amazing (japan of course)

Those are nowhere close, the first generation pokemon games sold over 30 million with 10 million in Japan alone, it also branched out into an anime, theatrical releases, toyline, card game, that were all huge successes around the world. Nearly 20 years later, the games are still selling around 15 million with each new generation and the anime/toys/cards are still around.

Youkai Watch/Monster Hunter/Animal Crossing have never been and never will be as big as Pokemon was at its peak.
