As you've probably heard, Gaza has been bombarded constantly for the last couple days by the Israeli armed forces. This is seemingly their response to the murder of 3 Israeli teenagers last week by Palestinians militants. Since then over 500 (most of whom innocent) Palestinians have been killed with many thousands made homeless. The majority killed by air strikes in Gaza had nothing to do with the initial attack on Israel and yet they are getting blown to pieces. This seems to be a common event in that country unfortunately and has been ever since the War of Independence in 1948. It just continues to amaze me that a place with such long lasting violence can carry on like this, especially when it's done by people in the world's most persecuted group in history. I think Israel has the right to exist but it shouldn't be getting away with the stuff it's been doing. The illegal settlements, the complete disregard of property rights of non-Jews, erecting huge walls to keep the Arabs from the outside, discrimination in their system and the as usual the bombings by both sides. This has been more or less the way since the fall of the Ottoman Empire not just since the foundation of Israel (partly thanks to my country, Britain).   

And yet those like myself who criticise any of it are almost immediately labelled anti-semites, it's just crazy. I don't hate anyone because of their believes, way of life etc. because i don't care about that. The Israelis and Palestinians need to give peace a chance as violence clearly has solved nothing but cause more blood lust from both sides. But when people keep supporting Zionism (really a Jewish form of Nationalism) that won't happen. It really is unfortunate that they can't live together as 2 peoples and work together or failing that the two state solution that has been proposed since the beginning. That can't even happen until the majority of people in Israel/ Palestine realise their is a problem here, rather than bury their head in the sand. War and violence can't carry on like this and it's good to see when many people around the world agree.

It's amazing what happens when affairs are left to a handful of extremists on both sides rather than listening to the majority of moderates who likely have peace in there interests so they can live a decent life. 

Wasn't Gaza firing hundreds of rockets at Israel before they (Israel) decided to invade? I mean a country can only tolerate so much before they attack back. I mean if Mexico started firing rockets into the United States then us attacking them would be justified in my opinion. Civilian casualties happen in any conflict, hard to avoid in a place like Gaza where the terrorists are mixed in with the civilian population.

True but it's not the terrorists that are getting killed here. It's mostly innocent people getting killed here. Israel was gonna react regardless but how many times have they done this tactic? A lot. The problem is it hasn't solved anything it's just made it worse. Those palestinians who lose loved ones in these things are often radicalised and want revenge. And it seemingly continues like that with constant repraisals by both sides. 

Something needs to be done to win the hearts and minds of these people and it won't be won by bombing them or forcing them off their lands. 

Alot of this wouldn't even happen had the two state solution happened i don't think. The only decent solution given the history and circumstances. 

Israel hasn't shown one bit of evidence that the 3 Israeli teenagers were murdered by Palestinians or Hamas.
Do you actually believe that Hamas fire 1500+ rockets at Israel every day? If that's the case where are these terrifying and deadly rockets manufactured? Israel control land, sea and air. Nothing gets in or out without them knowing about it. Gaza is like an open air prison.

This crap has been going on for forever and a day. The truth is that both sides have done horrible things to each other and I don't take sides in the matter.

Some people just want to see the world burn...

I try not to either as both do commit atrocities but it would be nice for this shit to end.  

According to the Bible it says that when there is peace in the Middle East that the world is going to end.  I think that it also says something about the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series.

But yeah... it would be nice to see this stuff to end, but I don't think that it's ever going to happen.

I'm currently in Tel Aviv for work. I arrived a week before it all started, right when the Israeli boys were kidnapped and murdered. And then the Palestinian boy was murdered right after that, at which point Hamas started firing rockets all over Israel.

Obviously the news here will be biased in favor of Israel, but it seems Hamas is hiding their arsenals and rocketeers in public buildings such as hospitals and schools and in the citizens' homes. So though it upsets me knowing that so many innocent Palestinians have been murdered, what other choice does Israel have when it comes to eradicating these radicals?

I've never been in a 'combat' area such as this, and trust me it's scary when you have run and hide in bomb shelters day and night with sirens going off every two hours.
