Post away! I'll just write a few observations here tomorrow.

I know you're busy and all, but just a reminder.I love your observations!

My biggest observation is how I generally only put games 2-8 months off while many people are fine anticipating games 12-24 months away. Also, I struggle and change my games month to month agonizing over who makes the cut while others seem to have staple five for months.

Well, one thing goes with the other, don't they?

If you make a list that are close to launch you'll have to change it very often, but if you make a list with games that are far from launch then it's easier to get the same games for months.

Please excuse my bad English.

Problem is how many really amazing games are releasing in 2014? I have enough old games to keep me occupied while I wait for some of the 2015 heavy hitters, so I don't really get hyped for games I'll likley buy one day in 2014.

I rarely buy games day 1, unless they are really good. That said I'm sitting here waiting for XenoBlade and Mass Effect specifically, so I'll keep voting them every month while I play some 6th and 8th gen classics (mostly focusing on those two gens). I want to vote for a 2014 title, but I'm just not really into much for 2014. Not a fan of fighters (Smash Bros), don't know much about Destiny, don't care about annual/biannual releases (Assassin's Creed/Forza/Call of Duty), nor do I care much about remasters/remakes (TLoU/Halo2/Pokemon) and yea....

Plus, I want to literally vote my most hyped games, regardless of realease date, so that others who look at the results can see they exist/are hyped. I joined VGC because of how conclusive these threads were, and how they gave a great list of games to look forward to. Using these results, I rarely feel I forget a game, no matter how niche it is.

For me several amazing games coming in 2014, but obviously the listing is subjective and no one is wrong to pick their games.  For me it has become harder over time to get that excited about games far off any more.  I am curious about the next Zelda, but until I see a bunch of gameplay and can see it being out within six months or so hard for me to work up much enthusiasm.  I remember agonizing over waiting for Ocarina of Time for a long time and it was not a pleasant experienc e personally even if the pay off was massive.

Why agonize? I tend to not pay attention to games coming out (except release dates) so that I don't see too much. Companies can release trailers which don't spoil the game, but just seeing a specfic area (saw a volcano area), or shot tidbits of a boss, you know a bit about what's coming.

Zelda I agree with, Nintendo only really showed a clip saying "we're making it like this", but nothing to get excited about. However you can base expectations for Zelda, Uncharted, Halo, etc, based off experiences with past entries.

The way I see 2014 is "mostly sequels to meh games." I'm not hyped for another Assassin's Creed or another Call of Duty. I haven't even been able to keep up with the franchises.

Out of curiousity, how many games are you still planning on buying in 2014? I only have 3 for sure (Smash Bros, Phoenix Wright Vs. and Pokemon) and the other games I have pre-ordered are 2015.

I tend to do better "out of sight, out of mind" with games or films or television shows.  If I anticipate something I think about it and covet it and even obsess a bit about it.  Focusing on more current events makes that process much more pleasant for me.

2014? While I agree have zero interest in Assassin's Creed anymore and never cared about Call of Duty there are plenty of games I want to buy left.

Tales of Xillia 2, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus, Dangan Ronpa 2, Warriors Orochi 2 Ultimate, Hatsune Miku 2, Freedom Wars, Sword Art Online, Transistor, Child of Light, Shovel Knight, South Park: Stick of Truth, Valiant Hearts, Broken Age, Murasaki Baby, Oreshika, Wolf Among Us, Samurai Warriros 4, Tales of Heart R, Xblaze: Code Embryo, Arcana Heart 3: Love Max!, Fairy Fencer F, Battle Princess of Arcadias, Guilty Gear Xrd, Hyperdimension Neptunia: Producing Perfection, Demon Gaze, Witch and the Hundred Knights, Akiba's Trip, Mind Zero, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Shantae: Half Genie Hero, Rime, Hyperdimension Neptunia: Rebirth, Professor Layton v. Ace Attorney, Super Smash Bros., Entwined, Little Big Planet 3, Apotheon, etc.

So...yeah, I have not enough funds or time to play all the games I want in 2014, and 2015 is looking to be as bad (or is it good?) for me and my wallet.

We literally are opposites, I just focus on what I want until the stuff I really really want come out.

As for what you mentioned in 2014.......do you really have time for all that? I'll probably pick up Tales of Xillia 2 and Zesteria, but I'm in no rush. I still haven't finished Xillia nor Graces f, so why buy the sequel?

I know I can manage completeing about 1 game per month, so your list for 2014 would take me to 2016 lol. I have to skip a lot of stuff like that.

The answer to that is honestly...no. I struggle with a backlog that I never let get above ten games and I often put off games for months if not years after release.  I also have had to learn many games I burn through ignoring side quests and all for.  I have finished Xillia and Grace f so no issue there actually.

I can complete some games in a day or two, like a God of War, Infamous, or Uncharted, but it is my love of RPGs that does me in as even burning through takes two-three weeks generally.  If only I didn't have my business and social life and other interests!

It is funny, as a kid I got 1-3 new games a year and played them for 100s of hours (I must have beaten Chrono Trigger a dozen times on SNES), now I have money for all the games I could want and no time for all of them, much less to revisit games.  Not sure if that is right, but when you are financially secure with no children (yet) I guess I am not hurting anyone. Just makes me chuckle when people grumble about "No Games!" on forums when I feel buried in them at times.
