Forums - Sports Discussion - The Football Thread - 17/18 Season

Lahm can be replaced, we have enough good defenders and in the midfield he ain't needed anyway.

Also, since clubs were just mentioned, I thought I'd ask...

Having joined this forum last month, I really appreciated how there was a World Cup thread for some football discussion, since pretty much everywhere else on the internet gamers and sports don't go together.

Well, now that the World Cup is over, I'd like to know...
Is there usually a thread for club football discussion?

Yep: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=80120&page=99

A Class: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester United (Although they are temporarily out :p) I'd say.

After that teams like: Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Dortmund, Juventus, PSG etc.

Atletico and City are very close to being A class, but I don't expect Atletico to do as well this season and City are just underwhelming in the Champions League.

Good to know... but unfortunately it doesn't look like the liveliest place on earth.

We can easily revive it by switching over and discussing the latest trades of our mighty clubs there (mine is BVB, btw).

Seriously? You would put the top 2 English teams (Man City and Liverpool) behind Chelsea (3rd) and Man Utd (7th) SEVENTH!!!!! I'd put City and Liverpool level with Chelsea, certainly not behind. And absolutely no way are either of them behind Utd. Utd have been absolutely dire recently.

Liverpool wasn't in the Champions League and their best player just left that's why I didn't put them in A. City suck at the Champions League. Chelsea are a lot more intimidating in European competition and they got a lot stronger now. I expect Chelsea to win the Prem this season. And yeah I said that Manchester United are temporarily out, they'll recover but I guess I shouldn't have listed them since they won't even participate in the next Champions League.

I hope we can do it.

By the way, lots of respect for BVB.
It'd be really nice if you sold us Reus.

I just had phone call with Jürgen Klopp. He told me that Reus is not for sale, but as a your club just sold the biting guy from Uruguay, BVB offers you a pair of those spitting Llamas (the right one) as replacement:

And? Team doesn't have to be in the Champions League to be good. Liverpool will show you how good they really are now. City haven't done great in the Champions League but last year they were knocked out by Barcelona, no great shame in that. Both of them dominate against other premier league teams though and I'm sure no one in the Champions League will want to be drawn against them next year, that shows how good they are.

When you're not in the Champions League you can fully focus on the domestic league. You get more rest than teams that participate in both. We'll see how Liverpool perform next season now that they're in. I don't expect them to place top 3. I hope I'm wrong because I love Liverpool, but that's what I think. Although I expect their performance in the Champions League to be good as they usually do well there.

My ranking wasn't just based on last season by the way. If it were then Atletico would have definitely been A since they won the Liga and reached the final of the Champions League. It's more of a past few years and next year prediction ranking.

So basically they always lose at some point, every single year then?

Kind of argument even is this? Every team loses at some point.

Not every single year. Someone needs to lift the trophy.

It won't be Arsenal though

Arsenal in he last few seasons, off the top of my head, have lost to AC Milan, Barcelona and Bayern.

Real Madrid didnt win the CL for over 10 Years. Would you say that they were suddenly a B tier team or a C tier team?
