Of course that was a rhetorical question since I very well know what makes it harder.

It's just so easy to attack the developers. It's the same thing Sony fans did last gen when devs weren't able or willing to figure out the cell.

In this case I think both versions are not optimized at all and that's when the PS4 gets ahead with more power.

I don't even think the level of expertise to optimize is the issue. In the end it's about if the devs care enough. Which begs the real question:

Why don't devs and publishers care enough to put more work into one version of a game? That the X1s second biggest problem. The power disparity is one thing but apparently devs und publishers do not care about putting more effort into the X1 version of a game. Which falls back to MS. They were the ones responsible for the hardware so it should be their responsibility to make the devs and publishers care about parity. Be it monetarily or with additional workforce from MS' side. If a game fails to reach parity it's on MS' hands because they are responsible for the initial product that apparently makes it harder for devs.

Blaming the devs even though I assume they worked even harder on the X1 is just not nice.

It's not about whether developers are lazy or if they care or not, it all comes down to money and time.
Do you spent untold-manhours in engine development, which may protract development time by potentially months, or... Ship something "good enough"?
Time is money and brings in no revenue.
The most extreme cases are when games are entirely re-built from scratch, sometimes delaying the game by years, that's revenue that the publisher and developer don't get sooner.

"Care" in this case obviously means money and time. When they don't want to spend more time or money they don't care enough for it.

And it really is not really a concern for publishers or developers to deliver parity on all platforms. Disparity won't lower sales, it just causes the game to sell more on one platform or the other. So it's understandable that they don't put in the extra effort(read money).

Clearly not a power issue, this is Trials after all. More of an optimization issue, they just ran out of time unless they wanna delay the Xbox version of the game. The big question is this new SDK that developers were going on about, has it rolled out yet? Did this game utilize it? If so, why the issues still?

Either way it's puzzling when a game like this can't hit 1080p yet games like Forza 5 or Wolfenstein can.

Its obviously a money issue.

.............60fps for everyone! Hooray!

Yeah that's what I took from this as being great news tbh, Trials HD and Evolution on the 360 both look lovely but when shit starts to crumble or blow up there is sections where the framerate can take a nose dive, and given the need for constant control input to stop you from failing it can cost you attempts at stages if the framerate decides it was going to pull a wobbler.

Wouldn't that mean the game coming to playstation before it comes to the Xbox platform which would be against their rules for 3rd party game launches? Or have they properly gotten rid of that need to release on Xbox at the launch of the game on other systems rule?

If that rule would ever cause Xbox versions to be the worse game at launch date it's gonna work against MS until Redlynx get patch 1.1 rolled out after launch to fix any launch day issues that games will have to ship with if they need to either keep the date or not be allowed publish onto XBLA.

Have you seen this game? or any game in the franchise?

Yes, you can argue with optimization. Then the next question would be, why is it so hard to optimize for X1?

Multitude of reasons could be compounding that question.

It could be that the API's are not mature (Microsoft seems intent to rectify that with Direct X12.), the eSRAM adds an additional layer of complexity for developers and then you have the Operating System and other software stacks which could be compounding the issue. (I, nor anyone here has any idea on that side of the equation, but being a young platform... Would seem logical.)

Ultimately, the best development environment would be for all the consoles to be *exactly* the same and exactly the same as a high-end PC, that's not the case, things will get better in time for sure, but it's also good that all the systems are different in a multitude of ways, who wants three of the exact same consoles?

With that in mind, I fully expect the next gen twins to not hit 1080P in games by generations end, they just aren't that powerfull for the long term.

MS thought their hardware was up to snuff until last year in February when sony revealed the PS4 specs. Thats when they ran franctic for the hills because everything Sony does scares them for some reason. They jumped on the clock speed and everything as quick as they could. It was all over the gaming news and all. Sony not only backed them into a corner technologically, it was almost like a real-life check-mate. Its definitely a hardware issue, but is not as much of one as they are making it. I am sure they are mad at AMD for giving Sony a superior graphics card. There were leaks that MS wasnt happy with AMD when Sony's specs were revealed. They expected AMD to give them the jump on Sony's plans but AMD kept quiet. MS will need this cloud to work. If it doesn't Sony proved it was all hardware.

Do you really believe that cloud bullshit? It's not gonna enhance games graphically in any significant way. Not directly, not indirectly, period. (I hope I don't have to explain why)

Nothing will give MS the technological edge over Sony. Not the cloud, not DX12. Those aren't proprietary unknown magic enhancements. It's known tech that is as available to Sony as it is to everyone else.

Well what I do know is its not going to happen today but all those billions they have invested into it couldn't be for nothing. I mean, Sony's investment in the cloud makes 100% sense with the cloud emulation. Microsofts is more of a mystery because it seems to be an overall service rather than a specific one. Of course I don't trust MS word at all when it comes to gaming, i'll just wait until they do something because they are all hype.

This is not an indie title. Its a $40 retail game $20 download bought by Ubisoft from MS Studios.
