I think WiiU version looks fantastic. Nothing far of MK8 really and in 1080p

Overall, not too bad. I'm liking what I'm seeing, and a lot of the new characters look fun to play. Shame about the Wii U Winter news however.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I imagine that's the only reason anything is ever late, because it's not ready to be released. That's why people would be angry because they're treating the Wii U as the inferior platform by not keeping it up to pace. The should have allocated more resources to the console version to prevent this from happening. Why is it additional cannalibization though? Surely they need this title to push Wii U sales, not 3DS sales.

It seems Nintendo is really making it to where you need to purchase both versions. Not that it's an inherently bad thing, because in the end they care about the bottom line.

I can sort of understand the perspective that they should have thrown more resources into it, but the Assassin's Creed series demonstrates that there are hidden costs to this as well. Namely, when a game's team gets too big for the sake of pushing it out sooner, it can often feel disjointed. Personally, I prefer they wait a bit more and smoothen the experience, as Smash Bros is a series I have played for years and years on end. (Insert Miyamoto delay quote here. Make it sound wise and not just cheesy)

As for cannibalization, I think it's safe to say lots of folks won't have enough cash on hand to buy both games at the same time, meaning they'd have to pick one or the other. Granted that the title is likely to be an evergreen, but I have to think staggering the two like this will lead to better sales for the series overall.

That's an extremely optimistic view of it. Game has been under development for a while, there's no reason why they have time to invest in exclusive 3DS modes and features while still needing extra months to finish a console version.

for bolded, it's good for Nintendo, because people will buy them.  It's slimy though.

This was the best Direct I've ever seen. I had fucking chills.

Great, even Nintendo 'delay' the Wii U version of multiplatform games now...

People have to get the idea out of their minds that this is a multiplatform game. It's not. Not only do the games have different stages and modes (some of the most important things about a Smash Bros. game) but they also release seperately and have different names. It's just 2 Smash Bros. games in a short time, not one on 2 platforms.

Also, yeah, it's stupid to release the 3DS game before the Wii U game (especially since most people seem to have that "multiplat" mindset for this one), but I'm still glad and surprised that one of the two games will be released this summer. Since I'll buy both games anyway, it is still better that having both games release in winter.

I'm a bit disappointed that Wii U version will arrive later, but their strategy is probably going to work fine. I wasn't thinking about buying the 3DS version at launch, but now I will do it and still buy the Wii U version day one. Probably a lot of people will do the same thing, that may increase the overall software sales, although it can reduce Wii U version numbers a little.

Absolutely fantastic direct...Sakurai is a wonderful man. Not only was he hilarious but this entire direct felt full of energy and had constant announcements and teases. There is absolutely no way for me to process everything that just happened so I am patiently waiting gameXplain to release their analysis.

Also, I am very glad about no more transformations. I feel like everybody just used one or the other and the down B became a wasted move (or ZSS became an annoyance to people who mained Samus)
