I've never seen the Netflix paywall as a big deal, most Xbox owners already have an active gold subscription anyway for multiplayer gaming, and those that don't keep gold active are mostly multiplat gamers that have other consoles to watch Netflix on anyway. Regardless though, it's a smart idea since it will help change people's perception of MS as this greedy company.

I hope they remove gamertag changes from behind the paywall as well, I've been wanting to change my gamertag for awhile but I'm not going to pay $10 to do it. It costs MS next to nothing to change someone's gamertag, no reason that it should cost $10.

Phil is really filling this role as Xbox head nicely, way better than Matrick, the best Xbox head since Peter Moore.

Changing gamertag should stay $10. It makes you commit to that choice. Besides, at least you have the choice to change it. I don't think you can on PSN.

It should be free once every 6 months.

Nah, it should just stay the same. Keeps order.

Yeah it's not a bid deal, the only people who complain are fanboys. Don't get me wrong this will give them one less thing to bitch about, which at the end of the day is a good thing.

If I remember correctly it's free to change on PSN, but I could be wrong. I know that Steam lets you change your handle at will for free. I don't really see why free changes would be an issue as long as they are limited to a certain period of time, why would you need to commit to a gamertag, people's opinions on things change overtime.

Take my gamertag history for instance, my first gamertag on the original Xbox was Caveman, I chose it because I lived in a town named after a local cave at the time, but after I made it Geico made the caveman commercial series and people started making "It's so easy a Caveman could do it" jokes about me on Xbox Live, and because of the fee I was forced to create a whole new account, because new accounts are free unlike gamertag changes. I thought my current gamertag was cool when I chose it 7 years ago, but then game developers started naming achievements after it and a slew of copycat gamertags popped up, and now I'm stuck with it because I don't want to lose my achievements by creating a new account and am too poor to afford a $10 gamertag change, lol.

Just checked, you can't change on PSN. But yeah I'd imagine it takes some amount of work to move things over on Xbox Live. There's a reason that's there. Plus I think it archives your old gamertag.

Xbox live is still a faster and much better service in the uk. This wont affect most, but for the minority great. Phil spencer is the guy that will take xbox to winning in sales. Once xbox gets the thousands of apps from windows 8 this year, psn becomes really far behind. Having the choice to use your 50 inch tv for checking the weather app or imdb app is what ive waited ages for. 1 device that does everything. And not on a 6 inch phone screen 18 hours a day.

How would once every 6  months or even a year not keep order?

10$ to change your gamertag is ridiculous.

You need an app on your tv to check the weather?

You know theres a TV channel for that right?

Weather app is the killer app for the X1...

Better to be $10 than no change at all.

If you truly believe that then you aren't able to comprehend the current situation.
