Gravity is a good movie only if you watch it in 3D or Imax theaters. Watch it at home on an average TV set, it's just an average movie. It deserved every single Oscar it has received, but not the best pucture one. Out of the 9 nominated films, none deserved it, because they were all average, and in a better year would not even make a cut to be nominated.

The Academy had to choose out of the nine nominees. If you had to, what would you choose?

You've got me wondering what a "better movie" would be, in your opinion. Because Gravity was incredible.

Considering the Oscars just happened hours ago, I would think it's safe to say they are still fresh in our minds. If any of you watched the Academy Awards (which, you should've) you would know that 12 Years A Slave took home the Oscar for Best Picture; I don't agree with this.

Gravity was the movie of 2013. It will define last year in film forever. The Directing, Cinematography, Visual Effects, and story line were all pretty much perfect. When a movie transports you into the actor's situation as well as Gravity did, that's worthy of extreme praise.

Now, you might say, "But, NintendoPie, Gravity got SEVEN awards!" And I say, "Please stop talking." That should've been eight awards, one being Best Picture. This isn't to say that 12 Years A Slave was a bad film, however. It's just that Gravity is incredible, amazing, and extremely intense.

There's no denying that Gravity is a complete spectacle.

12 Years A Slave won because it told a better story, Gravity was great but it wasn't no 12 years.

I was on.... stuff, when I watched the movie in cinema. During that scene when you see Sandra Bullock spinning in space from her perspective I almost had to puke, because the movie felt very real to me thanks to the.... stuff I was on. :D

Excellent movie nonetheless, probably the only movie I have seen up to this point, that I would really suggest people go to the cinema and watch in 3D, if they can.

you were on M&M's right? boy those little tasty bastards can really get to you

Yeah I was, unfortunately even they couldn't help make Robocop into a better movie, though I might've just not taken enough that time :D

And Dicaprio didn't win an Oscar... again.

I agree but Gravity won so many other awards so its not that bad.

Well, from those 9, they chose the best fitting movie, because they usually vote according to political correctness first, with actual qualuty being a distant tiebreaker...
The days of the best movie actually winning are long long gone, along with Oscar relevance fir anything but marketing purposes.
If you're still looking to find best movies there, you'll be making a big mistake.

My choice would have been Blue Jasmine, but of course it must not be considered because Woody Allen had some bad press lately.

Best picture? Yup.

Best special effects? Okay.

Best movie? Nope. Don't deserve it.

What I find interesting is the race card thrown in when a movie is not about a leading white male. I guess you can find the race card for just about anything.

12 Years A Slave told a better story how? There's no question that it was a good movie, but acting as if Gravity's storyline isn't comparable, at least, to 12 Years A Slave is ultimately ridiculous. Sure, 12 Years A Slave had the more "human" aspect going for it, but Gravity was the most tense movie I have ever seen. There was a weight upon my shoulders like I was in the situation with Sandra Bullock. If that's not good enough storytelling, then I clearly don't know what is.
