Well, from those 9, they chose the best fitting movie, because they usually vote according to political correctness first, with actual qualuty being a distant tiebreaker...
The days of the best movie actually winning are long long gone, along with Oscar relevance fir anything but marketing purposes.
If you're still looking to find best movies there, you'll be making a big mistake.
My choice would have been Blue Jasmine, but of course it must not be considered because Woody Allen had some bad press lately.
