Forums - Movies & TV - New Spider-Man movie to be released every year, says Sony UPDATE: not any more...

Tagged games:

The actors who play spider-man age, meaning if they don't want a teenage Spider-man to look in his late 20s by a third film then having to 'reboot' every now and then, this might be the best way.

But it could be Spider-man 'universe' films... this there isn't really.

Eitherway, anything to keep it in their control. At least it's not like X-men franchsie films which have basicly been insulting me for 15 years.

Hmm, pie.

Ouch, I make jokes about the movie division, but Sony is making the biggest joke of them all.

Seems like Sony really is grasping for any way to get money.

They don't own the Spiderman movie rights indefinitely. Use it while they still can, before Disney gets it back.

I believe that as long as they make a spiderman movie every so many years sony keeps the franchise

I was just about to add that. I think they have to fill a quota of producing a movie every x amount of years or the rights go back to the company that owns Marvel. That's probably why we got a reboot so soon after Spider-Man 3.

Yay, annual entertainment franchises! Only TV series should be annual, movies and games; not so much.
This is a horrible idea.

This doesn't quite make sense.  Serials are serial.  They aren't annual installments.

Serials are simply separated into seasons simply because here in the US they are typically only produced for a limited number of episodes.  The exceptions are talk shows, day-time soap operas, and UK TV shows which can sometimes have multiple seasons (series there) in one year.

Seasons are more often than not annual, it takes time to film a whole season of a TV show. Just a different format and better suited for it. If it includes spin-off's, this isn't so bad, but a mainline movie every year will not be a good thing. It could become a sort of Call of Duty of movies.

Ya pretty much, given after devalued product, Disney will most likely just snap it back up.

Right now X-Men, Fantastic Four and Spiderman are the only things outside of Disney. I think Punisher went back.

I was wrong about Daredevil.

I believe Fox (?) is also making a new Fantastic Four series. It's probably best to not let Disney own everything.

I was wrong about Daredevil, but honestly given how companies are treating the franchises, I can't wait for them to go back to Disney/Marvel.

Fox owns: Daredevil, Elecktra, Fantastic Four, and X-Men
Sony owns: Spiderman and Ghost Rider

Pretty much a matter of time, before Spiderman and Ghost Rider end up back in the rights of Disney. Fox is a bit more successful (hopefully the new Fantastic Four Bombs), so Daredevil and Elecktra most likely will be the only things shifting over.

Edit: Ahhhh my facts are all wrong.

Final statement based on wikipedia.

The only rights that are still left at other studios are the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchise of characters at 20th Century Fox, the Spider-Man franchise of characters at Sony/Columbia Pictures
[67] and Namor at Universal Pictures.

Daredevil did go back, or will in the next year, Disney is putting 4 Marvel shows on Netflix. Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist

Ya I noticed I was wrong, my problem is, my knowledge is based on 2011... so I had no idea what is still outside and what isn't.
