Forums - Gaming Discussion - Video games need more women – and asking for that won't end the world

Women in video games need to be weak, have big boobs and a big ass and  be easily controllable.. In conclusion, they need to be like Samus from Other M.

I’ve been a Woman Who Exists in the Games Media for a pretty long time now, and female representation in games is something that, y’know, comes up quite often. The latest example involves the futuristic dungeon-crawler Deep Down, which Capcom is set to release on PlayStation 4. Recently, the developers appeared on a live web stream and seemed to suggest that there are no women characters in the game for story reasons. In response, VG247’s Brenna Hillier unleashed a hilarious and white-hot tirade that beautifully skewers that mentality – do go and read it, it’s highly enjoyable. (Capcom has since clarified the comments stating that there is only one character, not 12, but he is still male, of course.)

It was neither hilarious nor enjoyable, unless those are synonyms for shrill and ill-informed. What is hilarious is how Capcom's explanation basically voided Hillier's entire blog but it doesn't matter because she has the Right Opinion™.

I skipped a few lines because I really don't care what this woman says. She is just weak in her opinion. Women should not be equally represented in games. Women should be the only playable characters.

The problem just is that the gaming world is dominated by gay men who just love to stare at men's asses and hear manly man grunts and put their hot load into the squishy parts of other men.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I don't mind playing as a woman in games. The reason we don't see more women as lead roles is character design. Make a beautiful woman and you're objectifying women, and setting an unattainable goal for girls/young women. Make an ugly woman and your game won't sell.

After every movie Disney releases with a female lead, they get shit for the design of the character.

The reason is simple: Remember Me flopped hard.

What a load of crap.

This will be big in Sweden.

Or you know... don't demand it, make it!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

pfffffffttt.. I just want to play good games, don't care about fantasy equality for male or female.
