There are a lot of good choices here.

But I'm going to say Portal.

Game of the generation... so it has come to that, hasn't it?

It is indeed a very hard choice. It is a toss-up between Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, BioShock Infinite and Donkey Kong: Country Returns.

It is probably Zelda.

Twilight Princess is a 6th gen game.

OT: Uncharted 2.

It is not.

*After all, it was a simultaneous launch (or did it launch earlier in the Wii?) and showcased what the console was capable of.

Fallout 3. It broke the idea of genres, it had fantastic writing, was a blast to play, and it was absolutely captivating.

Valkyria Chronicles would have been my second choice.

It is not. It was a game designed for the 6th generation. Then Nintendo delayed it, introduced it with the Wii, promoted it as a Wii game, and finally, released it. The game became a seventh generation game.

The game was seventh gen even if it also released on the Gamecube, where it was supposedly to be at the beginning, but it later wasn't.
