Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why are there no FPS's on the 3DS?

Honestly what the hell?

The closest that exists to a FPS on the 3DS is Resident Evil: Revelations and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater. (aiming options etc)

But they are not first person shooters.

Anyone know of anything I don't know regarding this? There were a few on DS and the DS did not have a circle pad nor a circle pad pro.

I'd imagine that it's because FPSs are a very western focused genre and they virtually all come from there and most western devs and publishers are much less supportive of handhelds. Power may have something to do with it as well. If you really want one you're best hope is probably for another metroid hunters (other than that, did the DS have any other FPSs?)

Erm... im gonna go on a tangent here... but maaaybe its cause theres no second analog stick.

Theres the CPP but only a small part of the userbase has it.

What the above poster said makes sense aswell. Western developers dont care about portable consoles anymore.

yeah i'm wondering about that as well, it's why i recently became very interested in Killzone Mercenary, i need that fresh handheld FPS fix, i've been playing Metroid Prime Hunters for way too long now XD
hopefully we'll see Metroid Prime Hunters 2 soon, it'd be awesome if Nintendo made one using that Engine that VD-Dev made.

That's hardly a reason when you consider DS had FPS's and NO analog sticks, did you not read my post?

If power had anything to do with it then I guess every FPS on the 64/PS2 never existed.

FPS w/o two analogs are awful (for the most part). I doubt many people will buy that add on, and since Nintendo doesn't make FPS games it will have to be up to third parties, and I don't see that manifesting. What were the sales like for the DS "FPS" games?

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

Not so good, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 broke the 1 million mark though.

only a few and none that did great numbers.  there are like 3 peope that like metroid hunters.  everyone else, like myself, agree the controls where horrible.  that game completely destroyed the prospect of me ever buying a FPS on the DS again.  ..nor would i on 3DS either.  it was such a horrificly terrible experience.
