Forums - Gaming Discussion - Picture - 720p vs 900p vs 1080p

For those who think resolution doesnt matter or is barely noticable.....

From Left to Right

720p - 900p - 1080p

1080p makes a huge difference.

One of the main reasons I am moving to PS4 is because I am tired of blurry 720p and even sub-720p games on current gen.

1080p on PS4 will be glorious and should be mandatory for every next-gen game.

It should also be noted that the bigger your TV is, the more noticable the difference is. I play on a 60" LCD so 1080p is very important to me.

So how zoomed in are the pics?  I really don't think a regular picture has that big a difference between 720p and 1080p from what I've seen.

Faker than the 1080p videos in youtube.

Are those pics from 720p upscaled to 1080p or just at their native resolution? Anyone who has watched a DVD movie on 360, upscaled to 1080p knows how big a difference it makes.

People seems to trust so much in internet rumors.

The guy is decided for a piece o tecnology based on things that no one has confirmed.

Is it so hard to wait and see for yourself, and not a randon anonimous guy says on NeoGaf?

The pictures aren't zoomed, that's why the 1080p example looks much better. Native resolution on an LCD screen (which I assume most people use for browsing) looks instantly better then any scaling. On TV you hardly ever see proper 1080p, most older 1080p TV's don't even display full RGB, but the more widely used 4:2:2 chroma subsampling video standard. (960x540 color information)

It depends on the picture and the scaling method too, but anything rendered to native resolution will always look much better on LCD type screens. This picture has a lot of fine detail which get's easily destroyed with scaling.

those comparisons are always fun. i mean, why don't you just post 3 pictures of a game in 720p, 900p and 1080p and tell the people to look at these pictures on exactly the tv they will play the games on? that will make much more sense for everyone as such a comparison because only if you show people how they will see it when they play on their console will tell them how the difference really is.

even if you post 720, 900 and 1080p screens and people will look at them on their pc monitor will be most of the time useless because that is not comparable to their gaming environment in their living room.

and since i think i know you well enough from some posts i think the reason why you buy a ps4 is simply because you prefer what a sony console has to offer if we look at the games and not because of 1080p. i mean, i just don't think that you would buy an xb1 or wii u instead of a ps4 if xb1 or wii u would be little bit stronger. and that is the case for pretty much everyone on this or other sites. i can't give you the name of even one user who would buy an xb1 or wii u instead of a ps4 if the power difference would be in xb1's or wii u's favour.

If this is about The Order, then you are mistaken and I'll explain why -if this is about The Order.

If it's not though I agree, there is a difference and 1080p is better.

could you explain it to me my love?

You have to take into consideration the size of the screen and the distance at which you sit at.

I play on a PC 24'' monitor. 1080p, 720p all the same to me.
