Forums - PC Discussion - alan wake on PC, is it any good?

so i just saw another thread about alan wake and i thought to my self, since now i got a gaming PC, why not try out alan wake? i heard many good things about this game but i always heard it was good on the 360, barely heard anything about the PC port. for those who did try the PC port, is it any good?

also for those who tried the game, what do you think of it? and please, no spoilers and talking about details in the game, i like to know literaly little to nothing about a game before playing it. (talking about story, character backgrounds and events here, not gameplay, setting and genre).

one last question, can i play it with a 360 controller on PC?

I'd say it's just as good as the 360 version was. The only thing of note to me, is that the difficulty settings are changed from the console version. PC Normal is 360 Hard and the other two difficulties follow in accord, which only means enemies may take three instead of two shots to kill.

I don't think it's a good game. I played it with an X360 controller on PC.

It has an interesting story, and great atmosphere, and was relatively pretty at time of release. But the gameplay was very very repetetive so much that it obviosly soured my experience greatly, more so than most shooter or survival horror games imo.

It is a really good port though.

I only played the 360 version, but this game is one of my favourites from this gen. Amazing story, great gameplay and pacing. PC version seems to be pretty similar to 360's, so do absolutely get it.

I played it on PC with a 360 controller, can't speak on the console version. It was a very good game. The gameplay can be a tad repetitive, but it still keeps you constantly on your toes and has a really cool, creepy atmosphere. You have to manage resources and look for secret routes, so that's cool. The story is excellent, especially with the narration and the collectible manuscript pages. It's linear so there isn't a ton a replayability, but there are collectibles if you're into that sort of thing.

It's wonderful. Not quite 101 but a solid 90.

I've tried both versions. PC is certainly the way to go from my experience (like always).
But seriously, the game isn't good... I couldn't get myself to finish it. My suggestion is to pass on it.

Good? Yes. I mean its a solid action game with nice visuals and I really enjoyed the story.

Its worth taking a look at. I completed it on the 360 and bought it for the PC when it was on sale.
