Forums - Gaming Discussion - Am I the only one not getting GTA V...ever?

Tagged games:

I don't expect to pick it up. I've never been a huge fan of the series, and with the X1 coming out next year and a whole bunch of next-gen games that I really want to play, GTA V just isn't worth spending the money.

The GTA games always seemed like a pretty boring experience to me so no, I won't be getting it.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

I don't like it,i don't like open word in general ,i have much more fun playing total overdose then GTA.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I'm not getting it, ever.

None of the prior GTA games really impressed or interested me, and nothing I've seen of GTA5 suggests it will be any different.

Playing the game "properly" was dead boring, and baiting the cops was fun for about 10 minutes before that too lost its appeal.

So no, you are not alone.

Over this past year, the only game people have seemed to talk about extensively is GTA V, and I find myself wondering why people had already acclaimed it to be the "Game of the Decade" or the best game of this gen.

To be brutally honest, I'm not a big fan of GTA. I fail to find even the slightest amount of enjoyment out of any of the titles, and when I do find enjoyment, it's usually because I'm using cheat codes and breaking the game, and even that wears off after a few good minutes. Mind you, I have beaten 5 of the titles. Vice City, San Andreas, Vice City Stores, Liberty City Stories, and IV. I also have GTA III but find it extremely bland, much like the other titles.

In my opinion, all the GTA games are bleak, repetitive, and boring. You can crucify me all you want, but I fail to see the appeal of them. They fail to capture that unique open world essence, and that's why I prefer Red Dead and Bully over GTA, GTA just fails to have that unique gimmick that every open world game has nowadays. That's why I'm looking more forward to Watch Dogs and Infamous Second Son rather than this proclaimed "Game of the Decade."

I have seen the reviews for GTA V and they are what I expected. almost all 10's and 9's and I sit here wondering how the games get above an 8. Thats exactly how I felt about GTA IV.

When I tell people I'm not getting GTA V, they respond with "You're just jealous cause it's not coming to Wii U." Which doesn't make sense at all because I own a 360 and I could play it if I truely wanted to. I'd rather spend my money on Wonderful 101 or Rayman Legends this month, not GTA V.

I don't know if you see where I'm going with this, but the point I'm trying to make is that I feel incredibly left out just because I'm not getting a game that everyone is getting just because it doesn't suit my gaming taste.

I guess my question to you is, are you getting GTA V and why?

I just can't find the taste on those games either. I kinda liked Vice City but I never finished it (or any other GTA). They get me bored after a little while. This game caught my attention a little because of the good reviews that are coming out right now, but I've yet to see what consumers say and I might play it someday.

The last GTA I played was 2... (for more than a few minutes anyway)
But the real question is why the fuck would you play through 5 whole GTA games if you get no enjoyment out of them? Are you a masochist or something? GTA games are long as shit, hell some fans of the games don't even finish them (mostly just dick around in the open world) so you must get some fucking enjoyment out of them.

If you just playing something because everyone else is when you hate it. Fucking grow a spine, just because something is popular that doesn't mean you have to play it. Would you listen to music you don't like because it popular? Do you watch crappy TV because it's popular?

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

I'll get it on ps4 if it goes there. I like driving, I'll bite as long as there is plenty of driving around and races to be done. I usually use cheats to get past the mandatory shooty bits, vehicles are a lot more fun as weapons.

No, your not the only one. One of my friend will lend it to me eventually, I'll try it for a couple of days and that will probably be it. Unless I totaly fall in love with it, but the same thing happened with IV and I gave it back after a few days and thought it was boring.

What?! I can't hear you over all this awsome! - Pyrrhon (Kid Icarus:Uprising)

Final Ultimate Legendary Earth Power Super Max Justice Future Miracle Dream Beautiful Galaxy Big Bang Little Bang Sunrise Starlight Infinite Fabulous Totally Final Wonderful Arrow...FIRE! - Wonder-Red (The Wonderful101)

GTA is a franchise that's cool for a short while...kill civilians, use cheat codes for infinite ammo, jump off an helicopter, get chased by the police, etc. After a while it gets boring, that's why I never owned a GTA game and always play on a friend's house.

Edit: well I do own Chinatown wars for the DS, but that was gift and I never finished the game.

Not getting it. Can't stand most sand box games... I'm too ADD and lose focus. Never liked GTA, though I bought 3 and Vice City and played them a decent amount. Very over rated series IMO, but I can see the appeal.
