Forums - Gaming Discussion - What If Nintendo Sold Wii U For $250 w/o the Tablet?

No. I don't care how much you, or other people, loathe the controller it's not going any ware.

Seriously though what is it about the gamepad that makes you people so baffled or afraid about it?

Nintendo is to blame, they really need to have a game built around playing with the Gamepad but in most cases they prefer to give players the option of deciding how to play.

They need to down the price to $300, make games for it, and have all of them come with a sizable hard drive. Only then can it actually have some success. I'm sorry, but if someone is thinking of getting a next gen console, why wouldn't they just get the one that's WAY more powerful and only $50 more. Until the wiiu is at least $100 cheaper than the compertition, there is no real argument for getting it IMO.

It'd be worth like $150! Not $250.

It might be as low as $100. Without the tablet the Wii U is basically a PS3 with more memory,  a tiny library, and no hard drive to speak of. The tablet may not have proven itself for gameplay, but it lets the Wii U become a support console rather than competing directly for the TV.

there's no tablet, and without the GAMEPAD the wii u is still a lot more powerful than ps3 and has much more memory.

Is the Gamepad actually required for any games?

Yes.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Without the tablet you can't even navigate the eShop, soooooo, $250 paperweight?

It amazes me how many people are commenting in this thread and adding their 2 cents when they clearly have no clue of what the Gamepad is or how it functions.
