Well I'll be the devils advocate then. Insomniac pretty much shitted on their fanbase by going for an xbone exclusive, cause they are aware that 100% of the fanbase is on the PS platforms. They could have gone multiplat, noone would complain. Price said they wanted to get more independent and broaden their horizons when they announced Overstrike/Fuse, now they are again under an exclusive deal for the competition. No wonder that they're fanbase is upset, cause it seems Price lied, and does not really care about the fanbase, especially when now, they announced a PS3 exclusive. He pretty much asks to buy another console for 500$ to get their games, cause we can assume that they will, still support the PS4 with exclusive content. But maybe they won't, who reallyknows now. Also his message on the Insomniac Games board did not help the fanbase since it was all some PR bullshit. That said with a 30$ price tag and the game looking good I'll probably get the game day one even though I hold some grudge for Insomniac.

what? why did he lie? if he said they want to get independent and widen their horizon they did exactly that because now they decide from game to game for which platform they want to work for instead of working always only for one platform. they obviously still need money to invest in the development so they search for a new publisher for every new game but they don't have a contract to develop a bunch of games in a row for this publisher. sounds pretty different to what they did before.
and "the insomniac fanbase is on playstation" would maybe count for a ratchet game if it was owned by insomniac. then they would have to release it also on playstation or it would be really bad but not for something like sunset overdrive which is pretty much a game which has to build an own fanbase and can't count on the insomniac fans buying it on playstation systems.

Well we will see, how it will go in the future, Nexus is probably for quite some time in development, as it is a PS3 title, we will see whether they will support the PS4 or stick with MS.
And widening horizons by making exclusives, dividing and separating the fanbase...yeah right, that's the way to go, lol. There are numerous interviews with Price, in which he praises going multiplatform, maintaining their own IP, etc. Now he is once again tying himself to a single platform.
I don't know whether you have played any of Insomniac's games, but if you did, you probably found out that they have their specific traits (that they mostly dropped with Fuse) like wacky weapons, humorous characters, boss fights and so on that they include in their games. Sunset Overdrive feels very much Insomniac, a bit what Overstrike was before they changed it to Fuse, less serious, less generic, less military, a bit crazy. Insomniac fanbase on PS would certainly feel familiar towards the game, and it should get good reception. But of course it's better they are crossing the line at the start of the gen, when people can make new choices than a few years down the road.
