Simple question:

I have a friend Bob. Bob wants to let me borrow his FIFA 14 for X1 and I want to give him my Halo 5.

Can we play each other's games (at least the offline components) without being begged for a donation?

Thank you.

only if you trust your friend bob enought to give him your account name/password.  the game is tied to your account so you can only play your game at a friends house under your account or the full purchase price must be paid by your friend.

Thought so. I pass on this anti-gamer device that just wants to suck every dollar from us. I hope this console tanks so hard on release to make MS reconsider and acknowledge consumer power.

Vote with your wallets people. Don't be sheeps supporting an anti-gamer device like this.

Would you not give up your consumer rights and privacy in order to play Halo 12? Come on!

That's one way to do it. Or they could have it so games can't be installed and played without the disk, therefor not needed to do an always online console and isolating potential consumers.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Say good bye to decent trade-in values then as Gamestop ain't giving you more $$ for it then. Terrible , terrible idea. my god.

True, but this will give you the option of switching between all your games on the fly.  No need to go sort down a disk or anything like that.

It's a trade off, and while it seems creepy, I doubt it will really be that inconvenient.  Usually, when I bring a game to a friend, I'm there to play it with them.  Not being able to loan is kinda of annoying, but the freedom of switching between games instantly seems like it will benefit me more.

It’s sort of a hybrid between all digital and current retail games.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Having the ability to sell digital games as opposed to being stuck with them is a terrible idea?

If we had the ability to that now people would be less opposed to digital purchases on the 360 and PS3.

Digital? You better check your sources, this is about retail games.

When they don't change this, I'm out. I don't get why I should trade games within my household/family or buy multiple times when it's about local multiplayer. This would raise my costs by almost 100% and they make enough money off me, having 150+ 360 games.
This and kinect required is a no-go for me.
I'm ok with everything else to be honest. Always online is not an issue. The servers might even last longer than the console itself lol

As far as I know Microsoft only said that one needs to pay a fee if one game is intalled on multiple consoles through the same disc. Because you you can play games without the disc (after intstallation) a fee of the full retail price (if it's new) is necessary for everybody but the actual owner.

If the owner chooses to "unlink" the game from his account somebody else can link it to his own account without any fees. This process would need an internet connection though. Some say that one is automatically "unlinked" if the game (the same disc) is installed on another console without the fee being paid.

Microsoft never said anything about used games, only that you are able resell your games, hence one is able to buy used games as well.

The main problem I see with this from a consumer POV is that you have to go through an approved retailer. If you want to sell directly to a friend/colleague or on ebay for instance, you can't.

Still not a great system for used games and the costs of second hand games in stores like Gamestop will only increase.

Gamestop etc will be all fine with this because it gives them an advantage over the "competition" being rivate sales or trades/swaps. I like that retailers who profit from used game sales have to give a cut to publishers, but I don't like that this has fundamentally affected the gamer to gamer trading relationship, which is nothing to do with making a profit, but freeing up cash for further game purchases.

Still a net negative from my perspective.
