Forums - Sales Discussion - The Real question: Will PS4 outsell the 3DS on a regular basis or in the long run?

Yes, I am feeling much better about it as of late. Especially when the 3DS game wall is constantly selling out at my Walmart.

But it has not been beasting for that long. I would like to see it do this for at least six months before I trust it.

Which I'm sure it will keep a stronger presence from now on. It just needed a spark in the West.

I'm saying the two are in no ways competing with each other, and thus the question is irrelevant to anyone but the most loyalist consumer (nice way of saying fanboy right?)

I also liked how in your OP you assume PS4 outselling the Xbox and Wii U as pretty much matter of fact, as if there's any indication of that at this point. Hell one of those consoles hasn't even been formally announced yet. Getting ahead of ourselves is an understatement here.

I love your confidence about PS4 sales. We know almost nothing about the PS4, and even less about 720.

There is nothing we know about the PS4 that implies it will sell as well as you think it will.

We know hype sells many things. Have you seen Matrix 2 box-office numbers?

We know Sony knows how to handle system sales and have a great track record.

We know many third parties are on board.

We know the world loves power, and it is powerful.

What else do we know ?

say that to Wii or DS or GBA or 3DS or PS2

PS4 will sell over 120m but I don't have a prediction for 3DS.

No. It is my prediction... I think I stated that in my comment.

Yes, the hype from the Matrix 1 (PS2) certainly helped sales of the Matrix 2 (PS3), but it didn't help sales of the Matrix 3 (PS4).

You mean after the 'people get get two jobs' and no big games until MGS4 thing? Sure, Sony know a lot about managing consoles, no more than MS or Nintendo.

3rd parties were on board with the PS3.

The world doesn't give a shit about power, why else would the Wii and PS2 have done so well?

isn't a bit to soon cause we don't even know if the PS4 will have a successful

That your argument is laughably weak

Comparing PS4 to Matrix Reloaded......cus that makes sense

Sony knows how to handle system sales. Am I looking at PS3 and PSV launches for reference?  Please.....

The third party support will be the same for MS

The world loves power? I guess that explains why the Wii is the best selling console this gen. And the PS2 before that. None of which were the most powerful systems.

What else do we know?

How about that MS will pump way more cash into proper marketing.

How about the fact that production will likely be limited, and the Wii U will likely get a price cut and some good first party games by the holidays, thus giving it a very likely edge on MS on Sony.

How about the fact that MS hasn't even played it's hand yet. Who knows what they'll show and how people will react.
