Forums - Gaming Discussion - Pachter On Next-Gen. NeXbox and Sony will be a success, WiiU crappy product

Make sure to watch the video as well.  It was a pretty good interview.  I put the highlights up for people who won't watch the video though.

A few Highlights

"Sony did not mention multimedia because they are holding back until E3."

"Microsoft launched Kinect and the $99 Subcription model X360 as an experiment.  Kinect is a part of the Next Xbox and  the Subscription model will be a part of Microsoft's Plan."

"Xbox will be subsidized by services like comcast and verizon."

"Things I don't believe is Always connected and used games.  It is possible but I think people are reading that wrong"

Jack Trenton -  "We are a games device first and multimedia will come later."

"Sony is 70/30 On games and Multimedia and Microsoft is 50/50"

"Both Xbox and Sony will be successful with a split market."

"The bigger problem will be if they can manufacture enough to keep up with demand of early adopters.  At a $99 price I think it'll be trouble getting an Xbox."

"Having Skype on TV in the living room is a killer app.  It will give parents a reason to adopt it. Kids will use it as an argument to buy the xbox."

"WiiU is 2 years too late.  They missed on this one.  It is much like a Nintendo DS with the top screen and bottom screen.  And developers are just not interested in it.  They don't get why they want it"

"I think nintendo's biggest problem is online multiplayer has passed them by.  Even though they have it they don't have an install base.  Compare it to Google+.  Even though it is a great service people won't move on because all their friends are using facebook."

"Truthfully I think they  (Nintendo) have a crappy product and I don't think they can do much about it."

"Nintendo won't go anywhere but Mr Iwata said if they don't make 1.1 billion dollars he will resign.  I'll take that bet, I don't think they will make money this year."

Huh that's odd. He really doesn't expect Nintendo to turn a profit this year? Surprising.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

"Things I don't believe is Always connected and used games. I think people are reading that wrong"

Well that settles it.

I like the Sony 70/30 game/multimedia approach... well I expect more 90/10 but I can live with 70/30.

I'm a gamer... not a teenager watching MTV.

I think these numbers don't say anything. MS will deliver first-party-games like Sony and both will have great 3rd-party-support. It always depends on what you do with the hardware you buy.

So if Nintendo does makes 1.1 billion, what then?  Will Pachter resign?

Wow, he really doesn't like Nintendo does he? Just because they keep proving him wrong...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
