Sad really, if you put a game like this next to Wii games where an actual effort was made.

Mmm, yes. I see the improvement.

This does make me wonder all of a sudden, because the gun is in a similar position, what on Earth the large black rectangle is supposed to be in the middle of the top pic. What the h*ll is that thing? I honestly don't know. Is it hanging on that helicopter?

It's a piece of debris from the building being lifted by the chopper, I reckon.

Honestly, it's like two different generations when you compare these games to the Wii's best.

It's baffling really. And yes, that's probably it .

The problem with threads like these is you're comparing apples and oranges.

You can't really compare the zero budget game like Cruis'n to an infinite budget game like Super Mario Galaxy, they're just in different leagues. Most of the games in this thread were made by very small teams with very little time as opposed to other games that have larger teams and much more time. It makes a world of difference.

Personally, if we're talking AAA or even modest budget games, I would go with anything that heavily centers around Mii's, like Wii Music.

Well, the thread isn't "worst Wii graphics with regards to budget," it's just "worst Wii graphics."
The fact that there are reasons for some of the games looking as craptacular as they do doesn't change how they look.

My turn:

I know that graphics are not the most important thing, but really how did some people played those games? O_O

I guess you're too young to remember N64, PS1, 3D0, Saturn & 32x.

My turn:

Good pick.

Sonic Team are under-recognized for how well they pushed the Wii; Colorrs and Black Knight are two of the system's best looking games, and Secret Rings was one of the first third party Wii games to actually look good. I'd go so far as to say that Sonic Colours rivals Mario Galaxy for graphics.

Here's another ugly one: Call of Duty 3, launch title.

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

I have played lots of PS1 games, by the time those games were released, and not now lots of years later.    So to have games that looked like almost PS1 games in 2006 is just ridiculous.

I absolutely agree with you. Sonic Team, along with HVS, are one of the few 3rd parties that pushed Wii's hardware to the maximum. Altough I find Sonic Colors to be better technically than S&BK, artistically S&BK is one of the nicest looking Wii games IMO, so I thought it would be nice to put it there.

And, man, that CoD 3 does look awful. Activision did improve the graphics with later CoD releases, though. MW Reflex and MW3 looked very good, specially when compared to 3 and World at War.

I thought Reflex looked about equal to World at War; it added reflective water and scopes, but the fire effects weren't as good and the framerate was choppier.

MW3 really impressed me though, in terms of how decent it managed to look while running such large, detailed environments with so many AI characters and so much happening at once. Watching the Eiffel Tower come crashing down or a missile hitting a skyscraper above me sending debris falling dozens of storeys down into the street were the kind of things I didn't expect to see running on the Wii.
