Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Should Nintendo release a Wii U SKU without the Tablet Controller?

That's because of faggots like Pachter and shitty developers that hate Nintendo AKA all developers that don't develop for Nintendo platforms, exceptions being Valve and Blizzard.

Santa Monica Studios can suck my ass. And "Epic" more like Shitty Games. And EA. And any fuckface that makes games for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Everyone bitches about how Nintendo should make a Wii HD and they'd buy if there was one and Nintendo makes it and no one buys it.

And lastly, shut up about the Wii U being a failure. It's not. You're on VGChartz. You should be at least smart enough to look up sales of Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U. If you align their launches, they have both had the same performance sales wise so far. I'd start calling the doom of Nintendo in a year when Wii U hasn't sold 10 million units. And even then, I'm not going to start saying Nintendo is doomed anyway because I'm not a moron. Nintendo will always have money because they are a profitable company, unlike Sony and Microsoft who just throw billions away just to have videogame consoles.

I absolutely agree with you! Damn those haters! Nintendo does nothing wrong! They are perfect! Everyone else is plotting against them and I hope they die and burn in hell! Fuck anyone thinking this treatment by 3rd party devs has anything to do with the choices Nintendo has been making all these years!

In all seriousness, you need to chillax. Nintendo fucked up, that's all there is to it. It's fine though since as you say, they have a money well that never runs dry. Just give it time.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Words can't describe how bad an idea this would be. Never mind the confusion it would cause, never mind having to redesign the operating system, never mind having to placate those who have already dropped their hard-earned on the more expensive (now redundant) version...... you are talking about releasing the Gamecube 2.0, except this time it is relatively underpowered.

I honestly think anyone who suggests this, and the OP is not the first, hasn't played the Wii U or else doesn't get 'it'. By 'it' I don't mean the Wii U, I mean games, and more broadly, the industry. Nintendo works best when it focuses on uniqueness not trying to go toe to toe with the competition. It's tried that and failed. Why would it work now?

Wii U has gotten off to a poor start, it needs games, they are coming. How about we wait a reasonable amount of time after launch, wait for the games to come and then when all that fails we can consider throwing the baby out with the bathwater. People seem to forget that Nintendo are the only company in the console business that actually turned a profit in the last generation yet somehow they are always the ones who need 'help'. I find it quite odd.

They SHOULD have made the Gamepad optional to begin with. But now it's too late for that and they can't do a roll backwards. So at this point, no.

But you are right the Gamepad was a bad idea. I like it a lot personally but it's just too expensive and too complicated for 90% of the world's population. Nintendo wanted to satisfy the core and the mass market with the tablet but failed to satisfy either... how ironic. I still fail to understand why they didn't just make a Wiimote 2.0 (better motion tracking, better speakers, built in battery, new design) + camera sensor (Kinect-like) combo and put a damn classic controller into the core package. That way classic controllers and Wiimotes would've been the standard, devs would've been happy, manufacturing costs would be lower and both the core and the expanded market would have been satisfied. But nope, Nintendo had to go with the monster tablet.

Holy Quackerony! That was one hell of an emotional eruption... Was that last paragraph aimed at me? Just asking as I don't feel like writing out an answer if it was just a general statement.

Someone on another forum I frequent started a thread saying exactly the same thing a while back and I got banned for a week for calling him/her 'fucking stupid' so I'm not typing another word after this lolololol

I agree. They should have just released a beefier console with the new Pro controller and enhanced Wii-Mote and allowed devs to choose to create motion control games or games for standard controls.

That would have allowed them to have unique software and share all multiplats with 720 and PS4.

ohh, thats a great idea...it would be another ps4 with a ninty logo on it that just plays prettier games.  very unique /facepalm

I take it you don't own a WiiU?

The gamepad is an integral part of the entire console. I'm actually curious how they will implement the 2nd gamepad as its really designed for only one at a time.

Many games even demand the GamePad to be playable. Further limiting the already small library of games is not a good idea.

Exactly.  The last time Nintendo tried to make their console indiscernible from the competition they only managed around 21m sold.

Terrible current sales notwithstanding, I believe that ultimately the Gamepad is going to be what saves WiiU.

I know, right?  I can't BELIEVE that Santa Monica Studios won't make any games for the Wii U.

The bitterness is strong.

On topic, no, they can't get rid of the gamepad at this point.  However, they should shift emphasis away from the gamepad.  They need to show people that the Wii U is ALSO the Wii 2 and can play all those casual games with the Wiimote just like the Wii.  That might win back some of the casual crowd.  Otherwise, they stand to lose a lot of those people to Microsoft and Kinect 2.0.  You can bet that the 720 will show off motion controls from Day One.

Necrobumping this to tell you that Persona sucks.

This is kinda like not inviting your wife to your wedding anniversary dinner.

Whether you think you've made a huge mistake in marrying her or not, you're in this together now, lol. Nintendo is stuck with that controller, just like they were stuck with the 3D screen on the 3DS.
