Interesting. I wonder if the pre-installed copies of Fire Emblem (bundle) are included on the e-Shop's numbers.

it wouldn't be since its not known if its sold (the 3ds might have it pre install, but the eshop wont have it counted due to not knowing how many sold)

All it would take is connecting that 3DS online one time for it to be able to read that, so I don't see it being a problem.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Don't understand why. It's way too expensive, and when Nintendo told me I should download because "there is no cardrige to lose!", I wanted to punch them in the face.

I'm not even sure what you're complaining about.

You're starting off your post referring to something we have to, at best, guess at.  Then you say "it's way too expensive," but I have no idea what you're referring to.  What is way too expensive?

And how did Nintendo tell you, specifically, to download it because "there is no cartridge to lose."  Do you mean customer service?  If that's what they said to you, it's most likely to console you.

Regardless, this is a very small reason to want to punch someone in the face.

Well, I'm talking about the game which this thread is about, of course. And didn't you see the latest Nintendo Direct? That's where they told us.

Also, I'm really close to punching Nintendo in it's actual and very real face, so thanks for calming me down ...

You seriously think $39.99 is too expensive?  So any retail game that hasn't been marked down yet is too expensive for you.

Also, I was in class when the Nintendo Direct aired.  I really think you're one of the only people who are upset about this specifically to the point of losing your mind.

For a digital download? Yes. Way too expensive. They must have lost their minds. I trust Nintendo to do right by gamers, and these prices are nothing of the kind. At least half price for downloadable titles, or I will not even consider. I like my collection to have value, to be resellable and to be physical, maybe some people don't, but I think those people are foolish.

Half the price for downloadable retail games? I think you are the one who has lost your mind. Resallable games will lose more of it's relevancy this coming gen.

When steam is having a SALE it is 50%, and when the game gets to a certain age, they start doing 75% sales.  Steam is pretty much one of the places you can get games the cheapest and are downloadable only.  You're really complaining about nothing big and it is not a rip off because if they were to make games downloadable right off the bat at 50% cut or more, no one would buy physical copies anymore except for those attached to them.  It would definitely alienate a good portion of the gaming community and drastically reduce their profits.

According to an interesting topic here, about 5/6 of the retail price goes to the publisher/developers. Factor in packaging, shipping, and the most you could ever reasonably expect a retail non-indie game to sell for digitally is 25% off. So, $30 rather than $40.

But that can't happen, because they can't undercut their #1 source of income. Digital sales - even discounted - would only make up a small portion of total sales, but it would anger the stores who sell their games, and they may lose their support. They can't risk that. The market isn't anywhere near ready to go all digital.

Instead of $40 for downloadable retail games, it should be between 25-30 dollars for it. That would give way to lots of reason to download it. Also include digital manuals and stuff.

I think if they should reduce the downloadable price after a period of time.  Maybe like after two months have it at $30, and then a year later it would be something like $20-25.

$35 is good! $30 and there is no point of selling retail copies

And it has outsold Bird Mania 3D, becoming #10! Next target: Sakura Samurai
