Yeh the original Xbox was good

I had 2, both chipped and running XBMC. It was easily the best piece of hardware last generation sadly hamstrung by being pricey and frankly a little bit ugly.

To be fair if you look at a launch 360 with the Blades dashboard and functionality compared to the current dashboard and all the functionality it's almost a generational gap too. Shows how much Microsoft has learned between their two generations in the business now.

i have the original Xbox but i only knew about it back in 2004 because of massive Halo 2 ads here in Portugal on sporttv :o

I decided i need that Console and didnt regret.

Fable, Forza, Halo CE, Halo 2, Kotor, Jade Empire, PGR 2, Splinter Cell... Amazing Games i played on it.

Of course, it was an ugly fun beast. An original gangster console owner myself. Got me into online shooters back in Halo 2s days when I really loved the freshness of the series.

Ninja Gaiden is still one of my all time favorites that was later ported to 360 and PS3 not to mention the graphics were far superior to the PS2. It still lacked 3rd parties.

Also this console made me dislike Halo 3 and not really fell like the series ever got really fresh again until Halo Reach did that slightly.

What's an Xbox?

I wonder if it's an age issue, I'm 30 so I was around 19-20 when the this came out (I think, not going to look it up), so people my age were more about the shooters and what not.... if you were younger, it would make sense you only knew about the PS2 or maybe the Game Cube. Might be an American thing, too.

Most of the games I played at the time were on the Cube or the Box, shooters or party games (lots of Smash Bros.), they were both way more "social" systems, with LAN type capabilities and 4 controller ports. I'm always surprised by how many people loved the PS2, when it was my least played Gen 6 system.

I loved my Xbox! Out of all four systems it would have to be my 2nd favorite while my Gamecube was 1st. I remember I had my Xbox for a few months before I actually played it. I was always playing my PS2, but once I tried XBL things changed forever. I was a Halo 2/Crimson Skies junkie! Xbox had so many gems on it that most people never acknowledge. I played Halo CE for the 1st time only a few weeks before Halo 2 launched and I thought it was cool but Halo 2 was awesome. I remember when XBLA launched and I had Pac-Man and maybe Galaga.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Yes, I even owned one. Shocking, I know!

Yeah. I never really followed gaming websites on the internet and I still knew about it. My best friend had one, I didn't like it though because I didn't like the games he bought for it. Didn't give it a chance really.
