The PS1 is the better console. Wii has a handful of the greatest games ever made, plus a bunch of excellent exclusive titles, but the PS1 library is just too huge, and too damn good.

Tomb Raider, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, the list goes on and on.

OT: This thread and the N64 vs. Xbox thread don't really provide fair match-ups. I'd like to see the winners of each thread go head-to-head, actually. Because N64 vs. PS1 is the most interesting debate, at least to me. I can't think of a single generational contest where each console is so closely matched.

Maybe the seventh generation.

I love my wii but have so many great memories of ps1, my second favourite console so I have to pick ps1, ff7, gta I rate ps1 higher than ps2

Regardless of Wii's sales, most gamers will tell you it is probably the weakest offering from Nintendo since....like ever. Maybe 50% of gamers who owned a Wii thouroughly enjoyed it, almost everyone who owned a Gamecube or N64 was happy, and I would say the satisfaction rate of those who owned a PS1 would be above that. It almost feels like an unfair comparison.

No contest. Wii easily.

I value my multiplayer.

If you're into PC gaming, the PS consoles loose a lot of their appeal.

probably ps1, but this almost feels like ps1 vs N64 again. I mean i had way more fun with multiplayer on N64 or wii than on ps1. If I had friends over the N64 was getting 100% of the playtime. In the PS1 era i was all about RPGs, and honestly going back to play PS1 now those games aren't exciting to me anymore and haven't held well over time. I think the wii is going to be a similar type of thing. The PS3 is probably gonna be a much better system to look back on than the PS1. I mean i still bust out the N64 all the time, while i still have all my PS1 games they barely get any play, they are just too damn slow and the loading times don't help.
