Ooh, you don't want dem casuals. Sure, they'll bring in a couple of bucks. But then next thing you know Sony or Microsoft'll be shoehorning motion controls into games, and using their resources to make boring casual crap to appeal to your mom or baby. I mean, can you imagine?
There are no "deserved sales" or "undeserved sales". Sales are what they are: a measure of appeal. Nothing more and nothing less.
I get that you're bothered by the idea that Mario Kart Wii has a higher appeal than the console iterations of any Call of Duty, but you shouldn't be. It doesn't matter.
cant believe there r still people butthurt over a game made by nintendo.
Interesting aside, Mario Kart on N64, GameCube, and Wii basically sold the same ratio-to-consoles for each system ...
Mario Kart 64 (9 million to 33 million consoles = 27% tie ratio)
Mario Kart: Double Dash (7 million to 23 million consoles = 30% tie ratio)
Mario Kart Wii (32.4 to 97 million consoles = 33% tie ratio)
MKWii and Double Dash were bundled though for periods of time, but basically 1/3 people buying a Nintendo console get Mario Kart.

my thoughts exactly!!
don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^
i think Mario kart Wii is the best installment in terms of fun, but the best MK is Double dash imo, it has the most satisfiying controls and grafix

I can't stand yearly interations of COD and think it's a cancer on the gaming industry as a hole. And yes sales can be deserved and undeserved based on quality of the game.
There are quite a handful of other games like this. Why complain about Mario Kart? We have Halo, Call of Duty, Diablo, Resident Evil, etc. (At least the main series titles for RE)
They may not sell over 30m like Mario Kart did, but I think it's kind of obvious why it sold so many.
It was bundled with the Wheel. Nintendos highest sales have always come from bundles.
