Forums - Gaming Discussion - Hiroyuki Ito (Director FF6, FF9 and FF12) hints that he's working on FF15 in recent interview

So to sum it up:

FF X (no date yet)
FF XIV (spring/summer)
FF XIII-3 (no date yet)
FFvXIII (no date yet)
FFXV (tba)

Overkill on expectations...
Remember when everyone was only waiting for X(or 12 for that matter, with CC and dirge alongside) to come out, just see where we are now. 1 of the 2 main entries that would make up the Fabula Nova Crystallis universe is still in development. The following mmo has no release date and while we're waiting for a X redo, they're working on the 2nd follow-up of the one main game that came form FNC. And ofcourse work on XV has already started...

I hope they can shut up about XV and first deliver some overdue news and release dates for all the other upcoming games.
Ah the lack of FF awesomeness has made me a bitter man indeed.

Square have also indicated recently that they have no idea what makes a good game. The listed the top 5 things they think make a great FF game. Good Story and good characters were not in the list. Final Fantasy is dead to me.

I would be interested in seeing that list, have you got a link to it?

In fairness to Square Enix, I know FF13 was not good, but in fairness to them From Software (Dark Souls) dosent focus on story or characters either. Although even in those aspects it trumps FF13.

How angry do you think console warriors will be if there is a Wii U version?

Why would people be angry that a multi-plat series would continue to be multi-plat?

I remember the reaction to it going to the 360 and thought something similar could happen.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Nah, it wont have nowhere near the meltdown.

XIII was a PS3 exclusive. Microsoft had the surprise announcement at E3 that nobody saw coming.

XV will be assumed multiplat from reveal. If it ends up being WiiU EXCLUSIVE... Then meltdowns would probably be bigger

I wonder what would happen if they did a Sega and released it exclusively for Vita :)

Exclusively? Square Enix would BUUUUUUUURN

If this is true, I'm giddy with joy! FFVI is my all time favorite game, XII is an underrated gem, and IX is an homage to all classic final fantasy stuff. Definitely looking forward to this.

Pshaw, XIII can't ruin my love for a series no matter how much it tries!

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

I've been expecting this for quite a while, what have the FFXII team done since 2006? I still want Versus to be re-branded as XV though.

They could've just been merged with other teams. Someone would have to do some checking of game credits to see what the guys who worked on FF XII have done in recent years though.

But a FF XV with an updated FF XII battle system, maybe taking some pointers from Xenoblade since Ito apparently said he likes it, and making it more interactive would be cool. I wouldn't be surprised if they go full on action RPG based on what Kitase has said though.

As far as I know, the staff of FFXII were split up after FFXII came out. Some went on to make The Last Remnant and others went on to make Tactics Ogre on PSP. Also, a lot of them are now working on FFXIV: A Realm Reborn.

I all honesty, I don't think the large-scale game Ito is directing is being made by the same staff that made FFXII.
