Forums - Sony Discussion - Forbes: It's a Rough Fall for the Playstation Vita

Vita may have good games, but it hasn`t got games that make people buy the console.
I don`t know about other countries, but here in Portugal the Wi-Fi Vita model is selling for 199€ until December, 16th. So, i do hope that sales do rise, because if a price cut, Christmas season can`t pull it up, it will really be tough for anything to lift it up.

Vita failing would really solidify the fact that people want low quality sub-par handheld experience on mobile/3ds.

Vita success would obviously be good for the industry. I'm not sure developers love working on shovelware.

Actually, the point of the article is that Vita is failing because of low quality software. On the flipside, the 3DS has been seeing far greater success with quality software. So you have it backwards in regards to those two platforms.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I see too many game that are either completely possible on other portable devices, or are markedly better to play on home consoles. As it stands, Little Big Planet is well beyond every other game when it comes to realizing Vita's potential.

Come now guys, don't judge it before it's had its first holidays period! That's preposterous!

The Vita is on it's second holiday season in Japan.....

So, what do we wait for now guys?

Me before the release of 3DS was saying it would play out something like a PS2 with Nintendo games vs the original Xbox. Doesn't seem too far away from what is happening now.

Can I finally start saying "I told you so"?

It absolutely cracks me up that many of the same folks who constantly bash COD as being nothing but a milked, cookie-cutter franchise are the same ones pointing to Declassified whenever people say the Vita has no big games coming out.

Why the hell would anyone who's even remotely interested in playing a COD waste money on the mess that is Declassified when BLOPS2 offers sooo much more content and far better multiplayer / co-op features for just $10 more?

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

It's not Forbes it's some random unedited blog dude writing on Forbes. Might as well be a bad forum post.

Funny. I wonder if the blog dude is excited right now. I bet his blog post is on N4G too and above 150 degrees (since Nsanity usually picks his news from there. And nothing wrong with that!).

i think it's the first time i read an article about vita where they don't compare it with the 3ds, which is good for vita because comparisons only put the vita on shame

also, fans are going to keep saying that vita only needs more games to start selling but what is missing? it already has uncharted, call of duty, assassins creed and those are the games that sell the ps3 so what is missing? mario? oh wait...

I honestly have a hard time fathoming how some can be so oblivious to the financial situation that Sony finds itself in today. Sony knows their new handheld is flagging, and they know a real price cut would increase sales. The reason it hasn't happened, and isn't likely to happen is simple. Sony doesn't have the money to loss lead yet another device. It really isn't rocket science. Sony doesn't have the coffers it once had, and to be blunt aggressive price cutting is part of what has emptied them out.

When Sony is offering up nearly two billion in bonds. That if they don't meet the criteria of being junk are damned near to being just that. Then you shouldn't waste even a idle thought on the idea of Sony cutting the price on a product that actually makes them money. Seriously guys Sony is on the cliffs edge, and screaming for them to jump sounds almost malicious. Worse yet implying that a price cut is going to come is only going to encourage fewer people to buy the product.

You aren't doing Sony any favors.

Sub par? 3ds? Tales? Metal gear? Resident evil? Tekken? Dead or alive? Street fighter? Kingdom hearts? The mario games? Ocarina? As far as I'm concerned 3ds does everything my psp did and combines it with ds. That is the reason I don't see a need in vita. Nintendo > sony.

No offense but your list reminds me why I'm not interested in the 3DS in the slightest. An uninspired ocean of remakes, ports and sequels. Developers need to focus more on new approaches to gameplay and original ideas. I have enough innovate new concepts to fuel a company like Activision or EA and I'm just some random guy who doesn't have anything to do with game development, what's wrong with these developers?

like uncharted, fifa, rayman, cod, assassin... uhmmmmm im confuse....
