Forums - General - How did you get so smart?

I've done some 'experiments' here on VGChartz and I've come to the conclusion that every user here considers himself to be vastly more intelligent than the average person. Are they correct? I don't know. I'm not qualified to measure a person's intelligence through internet forums. (Though if I could, I'd say some people here could qualify to be mentally handicapped).

So, to all you people who believe you are so smart, I have a question for you: How did you obtain such intelligence? Was it genetics? Were you born with a superior ability to learn and simply lived fortunate life? Are your parents the main cause of your intelligence? Was it all the books and brain toys they gave you when you where an infant that ushered your brain to its current status? Or maybe you are the cause of your intelligence? Are you? Did you wake up one day and say "today I will increase my intelligence to until its vastly superior to others? Etc.

Please don't feel pressured to have a correct response. I'm not interested in facts. (Trust me, if I were looking for facts, I would not be asking you 'people') I'm just interested in what you think. I promise not to laugh at anyone's posts here because I know you are giving your deep and intimate feelings. (Unless you say something really really funny).

Now please, tell me your secret!

Bhahaha!!!! Wat!?!?!

I'm sorry, I just had to get the laughs out beforehand. Now, commence.

Do you consider yourself smart Jay?

I consider myself smart but nowhere near genius. The reason I'm smart is because my parents are "Asian Parents" basically. They push me to my greatest extent in school. I also don't like getting failing grades.

I was born this way, baby. I also have a natural thirst for knowledge which heightens the smartness.

I like to think I know more about video games than the average "gamer". But I don't necessarily think that makes me a better person. Rather, I care enough about games to look up information on my own, through sites such as these. Most people I know (some of my friends included) only play what is popular at the moment. If you tell them game X is popular they will love it. If you tell them game Y is unpopular, they will hate it. They have no opinions of their own when it comes to gaming. So when discussing games with them, yes, I have a certain arrogance about me.

But to other enthusiasts such as myself (and everyone here) I don't act arrogant at all, usually i'm eager to see what I can learn from them. Basically I see the "sheep mentality" as a form of laziness, and sometimes I feel a bit more superior because I don't fall into the habit of believing what everyone else does, for the sake of fitting in.

You know how they say we can only use 20% of our brains? Well I took this pill that lets me use ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of my brain's capability. Needless to say, I invested in IBM.

I enjoy learning now. And often try to learn new things. However, when I was In school/college I did the bare minimum to pass. If I tried, I could have got top marks. I'm not the smartest person on this site by miles but I have wasted my potential.

So would you say that your brain power is Limitless?

I definitely consider myself smarter than the average person, if the average person is represented well where I live. I can say this with confidence due to the fact that the people I'm surrounded by lack the understanding of certain higher level forms of thinking. There are some people who say there are different types of intelligence and that may be arguable, but I can see where this idea comes from. Even from that perspective, though, I come out above the average person. I learn how to play music faster, memorize series of numbers better, understand grammar more effectively (though I am still weak on that front), and so on. Where this comes from, I do not know. I don't buy into the whole thing where "because I'm white" or "because I'm asian" that I am capable of doing certain things. I think it is possible that even some of the smallest things in the environment coupled with genetics may have let me be "smarter" than the average person. I am by no means the smartest person around, probably not the smartest person on this site but holy crap I know I am smarter than the average person I know.

Someone actually just made that up and people believed it.  We all use different parts of our brains for different things.  We technically all use 100% of our brains.  Are you just trolling?
