Forums - Sony Discussion - Rumor: Numerous information about the PlayStation 4 including specifications - New rumour with more info

machine translated

"Over the last few months I have been busy gathering information about the PlayStation 4. In all the years I have PSX-Sense Management, I have a lot of friends within the industry and so much reliable information received. So we already knew to predict that the online pass was coming even before this but somehow familiar. First we were with the disclosure of the fact that the PlayStation 3 could be banned, including screenshots of Sony's back-end. Also in the list we knew very first site artwork learn get Uncharted: Golden Abyss, then another game for the NGP. As if all this were not enough, we also exclude the hacker-log of the big PlayStation Network burglary last year.

I would like to emphasize that we have a large number of sources and not just thumb suck information from our visitors to get to. This article and the information we'll tell you this has been months of work and there are also many discussions preceded our resources. The information we now have as a whole managed to pry loose is not from just one person, but runs into the dozens. The information we have is confirmed by several person, but that does not mean that all this is final. It is still to specifications and details of a prototype, so there may still change a lot."

Specifications at a glance

  • AMD Fusion APU - Codenamed 'Liverpool'
  • AMD x86 Quad Core at 3.2 GHz
  • ATI r10xx (3rd generation) GFLOPS at 800 MHz and 1843 - Codename "Tahiti"
  • Unified 2GB of memory (still uncertain, this can be 4GB)
  • Blu-ray
  • HDMI 1.4 - 1080p output
  • 320GB + HDD
  • 16GB Flash Memory

That RAM has to be increased to 4GB, but other than that the specs are pretty good, GPU is basically a Radeon HD 7850 which is a good GPU BF3 Ultra at 1080p 30fps locked should be at launch assuming 4GB RAM otherwise they would have to cut some textures/LOD distance.

shows the 2GB version of the card and 8GB of system RAM and a much better CPU but console optomisations should make up for that.

A bit dubious but seems plausible even if the specifics are probably off, and naturally none of this would be locked down yet.

I could translate that accurately, but I believe it should be clear (If a bit funky) as it is.

Anyways, looks like a very decent system if it's semi-accurate.

If even WiiU specs are not reliable yet, what can we say about a platform that wasn't announced yet(maybe only at E3 2013)?

Well maybe I'm reading them wrong but it seems to me that these rumored specs has the PS4 having an CPU, APU, and GPU. I get having and APU and GPU. I get having a CPU and GPU. Having all three doesn't make sense to me.

Would make for a large Difference between PS4 and Wii U if true.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

I am liking 7850 rumour. It is a good card. Seems better than 6670 rumours or was that xbox 720. Two 6670's would be close to it though.

This card alone goes for $200-250. So atleast a $500 console maybe.

You mean code name Tahiti for video card???

Fortunately the op left out the line in the original that the GPU is an "AMD Radeon HD 7970", so the whole rumour sounds a bit more believable.
Still anyone can make up such specs, it is quite easy. My rumour of the day: An AMD A10-5700 and an additional ATI 7790-type GPU on a shared 2g Gddr5 bus, and a cheap dsp for sound..

The GPU that RSX is based cost at least $400 in 2005.

Tahiti is the 7950 and 7970 GPU, not 78xx series. Thus this rumor is debunked, Sony won't put a $500 GPU in their console, and especially with only 2GB of UNIFIED RAM for the WHOLE system - those GPU's themselves have 3GB of VRAM just to feed them.
